Why did you register to join the ASEAN +3 Youth Summer Camp?
Dai Huu: First of all, it comes from curiosity and the desire to directly learn about new things not only about the host country Thailand but also about many other countries in the region, and to interact with many international students. In addition, the activities that took place throughout the trip were extremely attractive, because not only did we listen and see, but we also directly experienced many things about the Land of the Golden Temple that we had only known through books.

Another reason is probably that this is a really good opportunity to test ourselves and prove ourselves. Our group includes students who are about to graduate, participating in international exchange activities is an extremely valuable opportunity, through which we can use the knowledge and experience we have accumulated, and at the same time learn and cultivate new skills. And above all, it is an honor to represent and promote the image of knowledge and courage; creativity, enthusiasm and friendliness of students of Humanities in particular and Vietnamese students in general to international friends.
And of course, with an international summer camp, this is also an opportunity for me to interact and make friends with many students from many countries, and learn many new things about the cultures of countries around the world.
What have you prepared for this trip?
Bui Hanh: Good foreign language skills are the first thing we need to confidently and effectively participate in all activities of this trip. In addition to the necessary flight procedures, the whole group had to prepare a lot of things in a short time. To be confident and professional in front of international friends, the whole group had a training session with teachers who were very experienced in international competitions and had participated in the summer camp before. In the following days, we planned to practice performing arts and choose a topic for a presentation on Vietnamese culture in front of international friends. With encouragement from the Board of Directors and enthusiastic support from the Youth Union and departments in the school, we chose a presentation that both expressed cultural traditions and was suitable for the context of the summer camp to send to the Organizing Committee of the Thai summer camp and students from other countries.

Can you share the activity that you feel most impressed with in the past 7 days?
Pearl River: For me, what I liked most was the exhibition about Vietnam and the performance of a group of Vietnamese students. We had prepared very carefully for that performance. The performance was warmly welcomed and cheered by the international students and they were very interested in the Vietnamese conical hat - the prop we held for the performance.
After the show, we had many activities to introduce Vietnamese culture through the objects we brought such as ancient costumes, wooden dragonflies, green rice cakes, peanut candy, etc. Those sharings left a special impression on the international students about a Vietnamese culture with a strong identity.
How do you feel you have changed after this experience in Thailand?
Minh Anh: This is not my first time in Thailand but this experience is very special and left a lasting impression on me. Before going, I was a bit worried that it would be difficult to communicate and connect, not only in language but also in culture between countries. But after meeting international friends and teachers from 7 different countries, I realized that no matter where you come from, how different your customs, beliefs and religions are, as long as you are sincere and have absolute respect for each other, you will definitely create a good relationship.
An interesting experience, I have never interacted with Muslims but the people in charge of the Vietnamese delegation in Thailand are Muslims, they have their own rules that I did not know. Therefore, at first, the whole group was "a bit shocked" and could not hide their anxiety. But thanks to this "unintended event", we had the opportunity to learn and understand more about Islam so as not to do anything that would affect them. In addition to strictly following the religious rules, in their daily activities, they were also very thoughtful, friendly and sociable. Respecting differences and looking at things from many perspectives made us consider each other as family during the 7-day experience.
As a tour guide who has participated in many summer camps, can Ms. Mai Mai share the significance of attending the ASEAN +3 Summer Camp for students?
Mai Mai: Participating in youth exchange programs at home and abroad, such as this Summer Camp, is very meaningful in the personal development of each student.
This is a valuable opportunity to experience in practice what we have learned through lectures in class; to listen to and practice language and foreign language skills; to watch, witness and work with real people and real events that you normally only see on TV or the Internet. From these experiences, we have the opportunity to compare with the knowledge and theories we have learned, thereby further developing our thinking.
Not only that, unlike the usual travel/experience programs, when participating in people-to-people diplomacy events like this, participants will be representatives of the University and Vietnam with the mission of introducing Vietnamese culture and people to international friends. This is a mission but also a great honor for students, through which they feel more proud of their nation and love their homeland and country.
