The journey of bringing love to remote villages with many difficulties by the Student Volunteer Team of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities

On July 21, 2022, the Student Volunteer Team of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi launched the Green Summer volunteer campaign in Phinh Ho commune, Tram Tau district, Yen Bai province.

Nearly 60km from the center of Tram Tau district, Phinh Ho commune has 4 villages, nearly 300 households, over 1,670 people and nearly 100% are Mong people. In the lives of local people, many backward customs and practices are still maintained, transportation is very difficult, the narrow road goes through high mountains, deep ravines, dangerous, many hills, making it difficult to access information technology and trade exchange, the economic conditions of the people still face many difficulties and obstacles. There are still people who are illiterate, or cannot speak the common language.
The Green Summer Volunteer Campaign over the years has always been an important factor in the volunteer movement of students nationwide in general and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in particular, affirming the spread of the volunteer movement in social life, contributing to creating good values ​​for the community. In 2022, the Hanoi National University Delegation will deploy the Campaign in key areas such as communes reaching the new rural finish line, remote areas, areas with difficult economic conditions, and ethnic minority areas, specifically Tram Tau district.

The volunteer student team from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities took a photo with comrade Giang A Chau (Secretary of the Phinh Ho Commune Youth Union) on the first day of deployment in the commune.

 During the campaign, the Volunteer Team participated in a number of activities contributing to the construction of new rural areas, such as: organizing environmental sanitation activities, supporting people in repairing village roads and alleys; supporting local youth in building models and constructing works and models suitable for the locality; organizing support classes on environmental protection (housing, roads, forests, etc.) for local people; organizing free English classes for primary and secondary school students; coordinating the organization of cultural, artistic and sports activities in the locality.

Within the framework of the program, the Team also presented 5 gifts to 5 policy households worth 1,000,000 VND/gift. Presented 5 gifts to 5 disadvantaged households, worth 1,200,000 VND/gift. Presented 15 gifts to 15 poor students who have overcome difficulties, worth 700,000 VND/gift. Presented 3 Youth Toilet Projects to 3 households, worth 14,000,000 VND. Presented 1 Document Cabinet to Phinh Ho Commune Youth Union, worth 3,500,000 VND. Presented 1 Humanities Bookcase to Phinh Ho Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities (about 600 books), worth 9,000,000 VND. Presented 35 bags of rice to Phinh Ho Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, worth 3,000,000 VND. Donated 90 boxes of instant noodles to households in Phinh Ho commune, worth 11,000,000 VND. Donated to Phinh Ho commune's scholarship fund, worth 7,000,000 VND. The total scale of the program is up to more than 100,000,000 VND.

Gift giving activities for policy and disadvantaged households

USSH Green Summer 2022 has attracted more than 100 young people to participate and respond, along with enthusiastic support from sponsors across the country with an estimated budget of more than 100,000,000 VND. The planning, location scouting and program execution process lasted from June 28, 2022 to August 1, 2022, the campaign's focus was divided into 3 main stages. "The most difficult part was probably the fundraising stage, because the estimated amount of money was huge and the fundraising time of the Team was extremely urgent. The Organizing Committee was quite worried during the fundraising process, but achieving such an amount exceeding the target was a great effort in all aspects of all members of the Team" - Comrade Luu Thu Quynh (deputy team leader) shared.

Tô Trung Hiếu Speaking at the launching ceremony, comrade To Trung Hieu (Captain of the Volunteer Student Team of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) said: “2022 is considered a new milestone to welcome the return of volunteer activities in general and the Green Summer volunteer campaign in particular, so the implementation contents must be implemented in a very flexible, creative and appropriate manner to the actual situation while achieving the basic efficiency and targets set. We would like to sincerely thank the valuable contributions in kind and finance during the preparation process of the campaign, so that our Organizing Committee can be a bridge between philanthropists, donors, organizations and individuals to share with people in difficult circumstances, poor students overcoming difficulties, to help them have joy, warmth and faith in a brighter tomorrow. We would like to sincerely thank the leaders of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for their attention and facilitation of the activities in general and the activities in particular. Regarding the volunteer activities of the Team in particular, we would like to sincerely thank the leaders of the Commune, local authorities, and people of Phinh Ho Commune for their trust and creating favorable conditions for the Volunteer Team to operate effectively."



























Through the Green Summer 2022 volunteer activities, the Student Volunteer Team of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, wishes to spread love and join hands to help people and disadvantaged students. At the same time, the activity also arouses the spirit of volunteering and volunteering for the community of union members and young people of the unit in particular and the whole country in general. And this is an opportunity for students to practice political awareness, expertise, and professionalism, contributing to improving the effectiveness of the Youth Union and Student Association, while improving teamwork skills, generating ideas, planning, implementing work as well as improving other essential skills through the process of organizing the campaign.
