"When Plastic Speaks": An art exhibition for the environment.

The "Plastic Talk" exhibition series, focusing on media products aimed at reducing plastic waste and protecting the environment, continues to attract the attention of young people with art displays at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, taking place from July 7th to July 13th, 2022.

The exhibition was organized with the aim of raising community awareness about reducing plastic waste and encouraging small and practical actions in environmental protection; promoting reusable bags to eliminate single-use plastic bags in retail chains, towardssustainable consumption.

At the exhibition space, 17 winning artworks from the "Plastic Talk - When Plastic Speaks" competition are on display. Besides the art exhibition, the program also includes screenings of short films related to the competition and the themes of reducing plastic waste and protecting the environment.

Sharing her thoughts on the aspirations, meaning, and message that the exhibition aims to convey, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Ha, Vice President of the Student Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Head of the Organizing Committee at this location, said:"The program aims to convey a message about a better living environment and a better life when we use plastic items responsibly, as well as proposing some optimal solutions to protect the environment and the world around us."

Environmental pollutionThe issue of plastic waste pollution is becoming increasingly alarming in Vietnam. Therefore, from the very first days of the exhibition, the program has attracted the attention of many different groups, especially young people.

Visiting the exhibition after class, Nguyen Thi My Hanh, a student from the K66 cohort of the Department of Oriental Studies, said:"I feel I've learned a lot more, more meaningful things through this exhibition, for example, the causes of environmental pollution from plastic waste, and measures to reduce plastic waste in daily life."

Speaking about their feelings after admiring the artworks at the exhibition, the K64 Sociology students felt that the paintings offered a diverse perspective on both the positive and negative aspects of plastic waste and plastic household items, especially the incredibly meaningful messages about limiting the use of these materials for the purpose of protecting the living environment.

The group of students shared their feelings and personal perspectives after participating in the exhibition.

Having been involved with the program since the exhibition's inception, two volunteers, Dang Thi My Linh (Hanoi University of Economics and Industrial Engineering) and Nguyen Thu Thao (University of Social Sciences and Humanities), both hope that everyone can join hands to reduce plastic waste, aiming for a cleaner environment for themselves and future generations.

According to the organizers, more than 200 visitors have visited the exhibition at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities so far. The exhibition has shown a multifaceted perspective and the significance of the existence of "plastic" for humans and the environment. It has also had a certain impact on students' awareness and actions regarding the use of plastic products, aiming to minimize harm to the environment.
