The exhibition aims to raise public awareness about reducing plastic waste and encourage small and practical actions to protect the environment; promote reusable bags to eliminate single-use plastic bags in retail chains, towardssustainable consumption.
At the exhibition space, 17 winning works from the “Plastic Talk - When Plastic Speaks” contest were displayed. In addition to the painting exhibition, the program also organized a screening of short films related to the contest as well as on the topic of limiting plastic waste and protecting the environment.
Sharing about the wishes as well as the meaning and message that the exhibition wants to convey, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Ha, Vice President of the Student Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Head of the Organizing Committee of the program at this location said:“The program hopes to send everyone a message about a better living environment and life when we use plastic items reasonably, as well as propose some optimal solutions to protect the environment and the world around us.”
“I firmly believe that, through this contest and exhibition, the program can spread more positive lifestyles, environmentally friendly lifestyles and ways of looking at protecting the lives around us.”, Ms. Ha said.
Environmental pollutionincreasingly alarming in Vietnam, including the issue of plastic waste pollution. Therefore, right from the first days of the exhibition, the program has attracted the attention of many different audiences, especially young people.
Visiting the exhibition after class, Nguyen Thi My Hanh, a student of K66, Faculty of Oriental Studies, said:“I feel like I learned more, more meaningful things through this exhibition, such as the causes of environmental pollution from plastic waste, and measures to limit plastic waste in daily life.”
Talking about their feelings after admiring the works at the exhibition, the group of K64 students from the Faculty of Sociology felt that the paintings brought quite diverse perspectives on both the positive and negative aspects of plastic waste as well as plastic household items, especially the extremely meaningful messages about limiting the use of items made of this material for the purpose of protecting the living environment.
Accompanying the program since the first days of the exhibition, two volunteers Dang Thi My Linh (Hanoi University of Economics and Industrial Technology) and Nguyen Thu Thao (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) both hope that everyone can join hands to reduce plastic waste to create a cleaner environment for themselves and for future generations.
According to statistics from the Organizing Committee, up to now, more than 200 visitors have visited the exhibition at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The exhibition has shown a multi-dimensional and meaningful perspective on the existence of “plastic” for humans and the environment. At the same time, it has certain impacts on students’ awareness and actions in using plastic utensils, in order to minimize the harm to the environment.
