Nguyen Trang Nhung, a freshman majoring in Japanese Studies, shared her joyful and exciting experience during the Integration Week: "I initially thought online meetings wouldn't be as good as in-person ones, but the event was incredibly lively with a variety of activities that I really enjoyed. The information shared by the professors focused on the key points, rather than being long-winded, and I appreciated that approach. My questions about the curriculum, credit-based learning methods, scholarships, etc., were all answered. The university even showed pictures of the professors responsible for different areas so students could easily identify them and know who to ask. The program also included fun mini-games to increase interaction among students. I haven't experienced such large-scale activities in my previous years."

Trang Nhung also said she was impressed by the Youth Union and Student Association of the university with their attractive and unique activities. As someone who enjoys social activities, Trang Nhung hopes to soon participate in meaningful activities organized by the university's youth. Sharing her academic plans for the coming years, she said she will strive to study well, aim for scholarships to have the opportunity to intern, gain practical experience, and study abroad in Japan – a country and culture she loves and has been determined to pursue since middle school.

According to Dr. Pham Hoang Hung, Deputy Head of the Department of Politics and Student Affairs, in previous years, the Integration Week – the political orientation program for new students – was conducted in person, with students participating in various activities over approximately two days. This year, due to the pandemic, the Integration Week is being held online, with significantly reduced content and time. However, the program still ensures the basic and essential content, namely: introducing the history, traditions, and activities of Hanoi National University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; disseminating the Regulations on Student Affairs and Training Regulations; and introducing the activities of the Youth Union and the Student Association. In particular, this year the organizing committee has added new content to introduce to students, namely the topic "Behavior in Cyberspace," with essential guidance information in the context of online learning and working, such as: fake news, online scams, how to identify sources of information, information security, cooperation and mutual development in building the right attitude and behavior online…

“The purpose of this activity, as its name suggests, is to help K66 students quickly integrate into the learning and living environment of a university. It can be said that both teachers and students have been adapting to the new situation. The teachers have made innovations in presenting information to suit the online format, such as digitizing information and learning materials in infographic and video formats so that students can easily grasp the information; increasing interaction during and after the event so that students can continue to have their questions answered regarding their rights, responsibilities, and obligations; and focusing on guiding them on how to log in and use online learning platforms – these will be fundamental skills for their future studies. Therefore, next week, students can proactively participate in the new semester just like their seniors. The general feeling of the teachers is that the new students were enthusiastic and active during the orientation week and followed the instructions shared by the teachers relatively well.” - Dr. Pham Hoang Hung stated.
In the coming period, the Department of Politics and Student Affairs will be one of the key points of contact for the University, coordinating with training units to help students understand and complete enrollment procedures and supplement their documents. In particular, the Department plans to design and organize orientation sessions at the beginning of the academic year on topics such as: overcoming stress from prolonged online learning, essential skills for university studies; and continuing support activities for students facing difficulties due to the pandemic…

The Youth Union and Student Association of the University have also actively coordinated and participated in supporting new students during their initial period of study. Dr. Tran Bach Hieu - Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, emphasized: The orientation week for new students can be considered the most important time for them, as it is a time to get acquainted with and learn about a new learning environment with teachers and friends, with unique activities that bear the mark of the university environment, which may be very new to them. For many years, the Youth Union has always set specific tasks and goals in its activities during the week welcoming the new generation of students. During the orientation week, the Youth Union and Student Association introduce their organizations, from their traditions and organizational structure to their typical activities. In particular, the system of 21 clubs under its purview, according to their professional fields, arts, sports, hobbies, etc., are introduced to new students with the most attractive forms of expression. These will be the core elements in building a dynamic, creative, friendly, humane, and comprehensive environment for self-cultivation, learning, and training, fostering all the necessary skills for union members and students. Through this, union members and students will also become aware of their responsibilities and develop a sense of responsibility to become outstanding union members, and ultimately to join the ranks of the Party during their university studies.

During the 2021-2022 academic year, to adapt to the complex developments of the pandemic, the Youth Union and Student Association of the university developed activities based on both in-person and online scenarios. The activities organized at the beginning of the academic year were diverse and rich: welcoming activities for new students such as the The Face USSH 2021 competition with a series of online activities creating a comprehensive and attractive playground for new students to have the opportunity to express themselves; recruitment activities for members of affiliated clubs; online volunteer activities spreading humanitarian values and sharing community responsibility, especially in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic…
