Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu (Lecturer of the Faculty of History - University of Social Sciences and Humanities) commented on the 2012 university entrance exam for History: "This year's university entrance exam for History is highly general, covering basic knowledge of Vietnamese history 1919-2000 and world history 1945-2000. The questions are clear and do not puzzle students."

On the afternoon of July 9, 3,892 candidates came to take the History exam. At the AB, BC and G exam sites of the University Admissions Council of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, reporters witnessed many candidates leaving early before the end of the exam time. When asked, the candidates all assessed that the exam was clear, easy to understand, and had a lot of basic knowledge, but many candidates could not complete the entire test.

By 12:00 on July 8, 2012, 3,902 candidates had completed the registration procedures for the university entrance exam for group C at the Admissions Council of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU), reaching 73.4% of the registration rate.
