On October 17, 2012, the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language held a ceremony to announce the appointment of the Dean and Vice-Deputy Deans for the 2012-2017 term.The ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim – Vice Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Xuan Khang - Head of the Personnel Department, Prof. Dr. Hoang Trong Phien and Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Duc - former Deans of the Faculty, along with faculty members, staff, and students of the Faculty. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Rector - presented the decisions of the Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities appointing: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thien Nam as Dean of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language for the term 2012-2017; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc and MSc. Dao Van Hung as Vice Deans of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language for the term of the Dean. Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim acknowledged the contributions of the previous Dean's Board and expressed confidence in the capabilities of the new Board, comprised of staff members in their prime and with a strong desire to contribute. The Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language holds a significant and special position within the University's organizational system. Over more than 40 years of development, the Faculty has made significant contributions to training international experts in Vietnamese studies, diplomats, and providing Vietnamese language and culture training to thousands of foreign students. In recent years, the Faculty has taken on a new mission: training Bachelor's degree students in Vietnamese Studies, with the goal of becoming the leading training institution in the country for this field. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim believes that with its strong staff and the capabilities of the new Board of Directors, the Faculty has the necessary and crucial conditions to fulfill its assigned mission.

On behalf of the new Dean's Office, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thien Nam thanked the Party Committee, the University's Board of Directors, and all faculty members for their trust, affirming that the responsibilities of the upcoming Dean's Office are very heavy. The new Dean reviewed the traditions and achievements of the Faculty, expressed gratitude for the contributions of previous generations of leaders, and also mentioned the basic contents that the Dean's Office will focus on implementing in this term, namely: Good teachers - Good staff; Good programs - Good curricula; Good research - Good application; Good international relations - Good professionalization; and improving the material and spiritual lives of staff and employees. Regarding training, in parallel with improving the quality and international standardization of existing training programs, namely the Bachelor of Vietnamese Studies program and the Bachelor of Vietnamese Language and Culture program for foreigners, the Faculty will soon develop and implement postgraduate programs in these fields.

Sharing the experiences of previous generations, Professor Hoang Trong Phien recalled many memories of the early days of building and establishing the Faculty, when difficulties could not discourage the dedicated teachers. The former first head of the Faculty of Literature and Television believes that the greatest lesson the Faculty learned was the importance of building a team of highly skilled, enthusiastic, and dynamic staff; and ensuring the inheritance and transmission of ideals, responsibilities, and management experience between generations.
