On October 17, 2012, leaders and specialists of the department attended a training session on building and applying a quality management system according to ISO 9001:2008 standards at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The presenter was Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Thi Phung - Head of the Department of Archival Science and Office Administration.
On October 17, 2012, leaders and specialists of the department attended a training session on building and applying a quality management system according to ISO 9001:2008 standards at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The presenter was Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Thi Phung - Head of the Department of Archival Science and Office Administration.The training session provided useful knowledge revolving around the main contents: learning about the ISO quality management system and the benefits of applying ISO; the process of applying ISO at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; conditions to ensure the application of ISO; implementation roadmap and tasks to be done to build an ISO-standard management system. ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the International Organization for Standardization, established in 1947, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. ISO has issued more than 120,000 standards including technical standards and management standards. The ISO 9000 series of standards was first issued in 1987, with more than 120 countries participating in the application, including Vietnam. ISO 9000 includes many standards, including ISO 9001:2008, a quality management system based on the requirements that organizations need to meet, in order to build scientific working processes and methods, helping agencies to be proactive, creative, and highly effective in their operations. Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Thi Phung affirmed: "The application of ISO contributes to professionalizing the management activities of each specialist, department and the whole school". Specifically, applying ISO helps the whole school identify and visualize the main activities of the school and its departments, helping departments grasp their functions and tasks to effectively perform and coordinate; standardize and publicize the necessary processes and procedures in the process of handling work of departments; prevent many errors because specialists have the basis to control their own work; is the basis for inspection and supervision; convenient for specialists in creating, collecting hidden documents to create records after completing work... Currently, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is implementing a project and plan to apply ISO quality standards to management activities. It is expected that in early 2013, documents of the quality management system will be compiled and disseminated, by the end of 2013, the quality management system will be implemented, and in early 2014, the quality management system will be certified to meet ISO 9001:2008 standards. Speaking at the training session, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa - Vice Principal - highly appreciated the significance of the working session, helping leaders and specialists of functional departments raise awareness of the nature of ISO, the necessity of applying ISO standards to management activities. The Vice Principal also expressed his joy at seeing the enthusiasm and determination of the staff, who are ready to participate and actively contribute to the implementation of this important task of the School in the coming time.
