On January 25, 2013, the Science and Training Council of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held its 7th meeting chaired by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Rector, Chairman of the Council).

The Science and Training Council held its 7th meeting.
On January 25, 2013, the Science and Training Council of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held its 7th meeting chaired by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Rector, Chairman of the Council).At the meeting, the Council members listened to and contributed their opinions on the results achieved in the fields of activities of the School in 2012 and the plans and tasks in 2013. According to Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Vice Principal), in 2012 - the first year of implementing the Program on Building High-Quality Scientific Products to Serve Training and Development Requirements of the Country (2011-2015 period), scientific research activities had many outstanding features: The School continued to affirm its strengths in basic scientific research, strongly participated in key scientific programs of the State and exploited many topics under the National Science and Technology Fund. The School's Policy Advisory Council made many valuable recommendations to the Party and State leadership agencies. Statistics and scientific information work has been promoted... Based on the above results, in 2013, some key tasks of the field of science and technology are: Perfecting and promoting the activities of the Policy Advisory Council; Implementing many major projects and topics: "Building and implementing the program for developing social sciences and humanities in Vietnam until 2020", "Surveying and evaluating the current status of ethics and lifestyle of Vietnamese people"; "Surveying and evaluating the current status of social sciences and humanities in Vietnam"... Regarding the field of training, according to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Principal), undergraduate and postgraduate training basically completed the set tasks: completing the adjustment of 23 undergraduate training programs and 52 postgraduate training programs; building new training programs to meet learners' needs; effectively investing in learning materials; actively innovating teaching, testing and evaluation methods; Initial implementation of university management contents... In the coming school year, the School will continue to complete the undergraduate training project in the following majors: Southeast Asian Studies and Public Policy, CLC Psychology training program; complete the project to separate training majors in some faculties. Joint training programs: major - minor, double degrees will continue to be developed, initially building 3 more double training majors: International Studies; Journalism - Communication; Management Science. Activities to innovate testing and evaluation methods, administrative reform in training management according to ISO standards will be promoted...



In addition, the Council listened to the presentations of the following projects: Establishing the Institute for Policy Research and Analysis under the School; establishing the Department of Event Management under the Faculty of Tourism Studies; establishing the Department of Thai Studies under the Faculty of Oriental Studies; opening a Public Policy undergraduate training program. The opinions expressed agreement with the achievements as well as the main orientations of the School in 2013; stating that the establishment of a number of new units is necessary, contributing to strengthening, integrating and further supporting the research and training activities of the School. However, the Council members also emphasized that there should be a plan to invest appropriately in human resources for the new units, especially the Institute for Policy Studies, so that these units can truly become strong research units and prestigious scientific hubs in the industry.
