Vietnam and South Korea are two countries located in East Asia, sharing many similarities in history and culture. Throughout their historical development, the Vietnamese and Korean peoples have had close ties. Because of these many historical and cultural similarities, intellectuals in both countries not only focus on and disseminate knowledge about history, culture, geography, and people, but also strive to learn from each other, especially how the two nations confront the challenges of the modern era.
Despite numerous historical and cultural similarities, frequent and rich interactions between the people of the two countries, and many lessons that can be learned from comparing the histories of the two nations, in-depth academic research on the history and cultural exchange between Vietnam and Korea by scholars of both countries remains modest and does not match the research potential. Scholars and academic centers of both countries also have few opportunities to interact, exchange, and share their research.
To promote understanding of history and cultural exchange between Korea and Vietnam, and to build a network of scientists researching the history and culture of Vietnam and Korea, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in collaboration with the National Institute of Historical Research of Korea (Korea), is organizing the first Vietnam-Korea International Scientific Conference with the theme: “History and Cultural Exchange between Vietnam and Korea”.

The workshop brought together dozens of scientists and historians from universities and research institutes in South Korea and Vietnam, as well as numerous young researchers, graduate students, and doctoral candidates from both countries to exchange and share research findings on the history and cultural exchange between the two nations.
Through in-depth and meticulous research by domestic and international scholars, the conference will contribute to systematizing and updating the materials and research results of Vietnamese and Korean scholars over the years on history and cultural exchange, thereby sharing and enhancing mutual understanding between the people of the two countries.
The first Vietnam-Korea International Scientific Conference aims to support and promote research on the history and cultural exchange between Vietnam and Korea; and to build a network of scientists to cooperate and support each other in research on the history and culture of the two countries.
We cordially invite scientists and interested readers to attend!
