Vietnam and Korea are two countries located in East Asia, sharing many similarities in history and culture. In the process of their historical development, the Vietnamese and Korean peoples have had close relationships with each other. Because of the many similarities in history and culture, while learning about each other, intellectuals of the two countries not only care about and disseminate knowledge about history, culture, geography, people... but also always try to learn from each other, especially learning how countries face the difficulties and challenges of the times.
Although there are many similarities in history and culture; the frequent and rich contacts between the people of the two countries and many lessons can be drawn from comparing the history of the nations, up to now, in-depth and academic research on the history and cultural exchange between Vietnam and Korea by scholars of the two countries is still very modest, not commensurate with the research potential. Scholars and academic centers of the two countries also have few opportunities to contact, exchange and share their research.
To promote the study of history and cultural exchange between Korea and Vietnam, and to build a network of scientists researching the history and culture of Vietnam and Korea, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in collaboration with the National Institute of Korean History (Korea) organized the first Vietnam - Korea international scientific conference with the theme: "History and cultural exchange between Vietnam and Korea".
The conference brought together dozens of scientists and historians from universities and research institutes in Korea and Vietnam, as well as many young researchers, graduate students and postgraduates from the two countries to exchange and share research results on the history and cultural exchange of the two countries in history.
Through in-depth and elaborate research by domestic and foreign researchers, the Conference will contribute to systematizing and updating documents and research results over many years by Vietnamese and Korean scholars on history and cultural exchange, thereby sharing and enhancing mutual understanding between the people of the two countries.
The first Vietnam – Korea International Scientific Conference aims to support and promote research on history and cultural exchange between Vietnam and Korea; build a network of scientists to cooperate and support each other in research on history and culture between the two countries.
