1. Eligibility Criteria- Individuals who have graduated from a Vietnamese high school or hold a foreign diploma with recognized equivalent qualifications.
- Individuals holding a vocational diploma in a field related to the chosen program and who have completed the required amount of general education at the high school level as stipulated by law (hereinafter referred to as high school graduates).
- Must be in good health to study according to current regulations.
2. Admission methodsIn 2024, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, will recruit students through 6 admission methods:
2.1. Method 1(PT1 - Method Code: 301): Direct admission and priority admission according to the current admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).
a) Labor Hero, Hero of the People's Armed Forces, National Emulation Fighter.
b) Candidates who win first, second, or third prize in national or international student excellence competitions (subjects in which prizes were won are considered for admission to the majors/programs specified in Appendix 2) or national or international science and technology competitions (with research projects/topics in the fields of Social and Behavioral Sciences and Business and Management as decided by the Admissions Council) organized and nominated by the Ministry of Education and Training; the time of winning the prize must not exceed 3 years from the time of direct admission consideration.
c) Candidates with severe disabilities who have a disability certificate issued by a competent authority in accordance with regulations, ensuring their ability to study certain suitable majors as decided by the Admissions Council.
d) Candidates who are members of ethnic minority groups with very small populations as defined by current government regulations, candidates from 20 poor border and island districts in the Southwest region, or candidates who have resided in one of these districts for 3 years or more, studied for 3 years and graduated from high school in these poor districts (students attending ethnic minority boarding schools are considered based on their place of residence) as defined by the Government and the Prime Minister.
e) Foreign candidates whose Vietnamese language knowledge and proficiency test results meet the current regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and Vietnam National University, Hanoi;
f) Candidates who are ethnic minority preparatory university students will have their applications sent to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities by the ethnic minority preparatory university training schools according to the instructions.
2.2. Method 2(PT2 - method code: 303): Direct admission and priority admission according to the specific regulations and admission guidelines of VNU Hanoi.
High school students nationwide with a "Good" conduct rating for all three years of high school and an "Excellent" academic performance are eligible for direct admission and priority consideration in their graduation year into suitable majors if they meet one of the following criteria:
- Winning first, second, or third prize in the high school-level Olympic competitions of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (subjects in which prizes were won will be considered for admission to the majors/programs specified in Appendix 2);
- Winning first, second, or third prize in the provincial/city-level excellent student competition and achieving an average academic score of 8.5 or higher over three years of high school (rounded to two decimal places) (subjects in which prizes were won will be considered for admission to the majors/programs specified in Appendix 2);
- Being a participant in the monthly competition of the "Road to Olympia" program organized annually by Vietnam Television and having an average academic score of 8.5 or higher in high school (rounded to two decimal places).
Students who won awards during their high school years will have their results reserved when applying for admission to undergraduate programs at Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
2.3. Method 3(PT3 - method code: 401): Admission based on valid results of the National University of Hanoi's High School Competency Assessment Exam (HSA).
Candidates must achieve a minimum score of 80/150 or higher in the National Competency Assessment Exam (HSA) organized by Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
2.4. Method 4(PT4 - method code: 408): Admission based on international certificates (A-Level, SAT, ACT)
a) Candidates with an international certificate from the Cambridge University Examination Centre, UK (Cambridge International Examinations A-Level, UK; hereinafter referred to as A-Level certificate): Candidates using an A-Level certificate must have achieved a score of 60/100 or higher in each of the three compulsory subjects, including Mathematics or Literature, according to the subject combinations specified for the respective training program (equivalent to a C grade, PUM range ≥60).
b) Candidates with a score of 1100/1600 or higher on the SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test, USA) standardized test. The registration code for Vietnam National University-Hanoi with the SAT testing organization (The College Board) is 7853-Vietnam National University-Hanoi (candidates need to declare this registration code when registering for the SAT test).
c) Candidates who achieve a score of 22/36 or higher on the ACT (American College Testing) standardized test.
2.5. Method 5(PT5 - Method Code: 409): Admission based on international foreign language certificates (IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, HSK and HSKK, JLPT, TOPIK II) combined with high school graduation exam results.
- Candidates with an IELTS Academic certificate of 5.5 or higher, or equivalent international English certificates, or other international foreign language certificates (as specified in Appendix 3) and a total score of at least 14 points in the remaining two subjects of the admission combination for the major/program in the 2024 high school graduation exam (including either Mathematics or Literature).
2.6. Method 6(PT6 - method code: 100): Admission based on the results of the 2024 high school graduation exam.
- Candidates whose results in the 2024 high school graduation exam for each subject combination meet the minimum quality assurance threshold for admission set by VNU and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
3. Scope of admissionsThe University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, recruits students from across the country and internationally.
4. Training programs and enrollment quota allocationIn 2024, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will recruit 2,300 students for its regular undergraduate programs across 28 majors, allocating the quotas according to the following admission methods:

In the event that the admission methods do not fill all the quotas, the remaining quotas will be transferred to the remaining admission methods of the major/program;
- In the admission method based on high school graduation exam results, for admission combinations including a foreign language, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities only uses the exam scores from the 2024 high school graduation exam, and does not use the results of exemptions from the foreign language exam as stipulated in the Regulations on Recognition of High School Graduation of the Ministry of Education and Training..

6. Other information
6.1. Regarding specialization orientation
a) Oriental Studies:The Oriental Studies program comprises three specializations: Indian Studies, Thai Studies, and Chinese Studies. After the first semester, the Department of Oriental Studies will assign first-year Oriental Studies students to specializations based on their preferences and academic performance in the first semester. Priority will be given to students with HSK and HSKK Level 3 or higher language proficiency certificates for Chinese Studies, Thai language proficiency certificates for Thai Studies, and international English language certificates for Indian Studies.
