2.1 About the degree

- Graduated or qualified for recognition of university graduation (or equivalent level or higher) in a relevant field.

- For research-oriented programs: candidates must have graduated from university with a Good degree or higher, or candidates who graduated with a degree below Good must have scientific publications (books, textbooks, articles published in specialized scientific journals or reports published in conference proceedings, specialized scientific seminars) related to the field of study and research.

- Meet the seniority requirements according to the subjects specified in the training program framework (CTĐT) of master's training majors.

- The candidate's university degree in a relevant field issued by a foreign educational institution must be accompanied by a recognition document from the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training.

2.2 About foreign language proficiency:

From 2022, the Foreign Language exam content has been eliminated according to Circular No. 23/2021/TT-BGDDT dated August 30, 2021 of the Minister of Education and Training on promulgating the Regulations on admission and training for master's degrees. Candidates must meet the foreign language proficiency requirements of the program they are applying for, as evidenced by one of the following specific diplomas and certificates:

- Bachelor's degree or higher in foreign languages, foreign language pedagogy, or bachelor's degree or higher in which basic and specialized knowledge courses are conducted in a foreign language;

- A university degree or higher issued by training units within VNU within a period of no more than 02 years with foreign language output standards meeting foreign language proficiency requirements for admission to master's training programs and candidates who have a foreign language certificate meeting output standards before graduating from university-level training programs;

- One of the foreign language certificates with equivalent levelLevel 3or higher according to the 6-level Foreign Language Competency Framework for Vietnam and recognized by VNU, valid for 02 years from the date of foreign language certificate exam to the date of application.

- Applicants who are foreign citizens who register to study a master's program in Vietnamese must have a Vietnamese proficiency level of Level 4 or higher according to the Vietnamese Proficiency Framework for Foreigners or have graduated from university (or equivalent) or higher where the training program is taught in Vietnamese; meet the requirements for a second foreign language as prescribed by the training institution (if any), except for native speakers of the language used in the training program. The selection of foreigners or Vietnamese people residing abroad to study at VNU is carried out in accordance with the Regulations on attracting and managing international students at VNU, issued under Decision No. 4848/QD-DHQGHN dated December 18, 2017.

- Master's training courses enrolling from 2022 have output standards for foreign language proficiency of Level 4 or higher or equivalent according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam.

3. Admission method

3.1 Traditional entrance exam:

- Master's entrance exams include: Basic exam and Foundation exam.

3.2 Direct admission to master's degree:

a) Conditions for direct admission:

Candidates applying for master's training at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will be considered for direct admission if they meet the following conditions:

- Regarding university degree: meet one of the following requirements:

+ Graduated from a regular university with a good or higher degree within 12 months (up to the time of application) from the following training programs of Hanoi National University: talented, advanced, international standard, high quality (invested by the state), training programs that have been accredited by prestigious international accreditation organizations (AUN-QA, ABET...) or Vietnamese accreditation organizations recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training (for courses that are still enrolled within the deadline).

+ Graduated from a regular university with a major of Good or higher within 12 months (from the time of application) from standard, high-quality training programs according to Circular 23/2014/TT-BGDĐT of Hanoi National University.

+ Graduated from a regular university major with a good degree or higher within 12 months (from the date of application) from Hanoi National University.

Bonus points for scientific research achievements (see regulations in point b of this section) can be added to the candidate's cumulative GPA for direct admission.

- Regarding foreign language proficiency: have foreign language proficiency that meets the requirements of the training program, as demonstrated by one of the diplomas and certificates specified in section 2.

b) Regulations on bonus points for scientific research achievements:

- For student scientific research projects:

+ Won awards at VNU or Ministry of Education and Training level: first prize: 0.2 points, second prize 0.15 points, third prize 0.1 points, consolation prize 0.07 points.

+ Winning school or department level awards: first prize 0.1 point, second prize 0.07 point, third prize 0.05 point.

- For scientific articles published in ISI journals: 0.3 points; articles published in Scopus/other international journals: 0.2 points; articles published in proceedings of international/national scientific conferences and seminars: 0.15 points;

- Students with many achievements will accumulate bonus points but not more than 0.5 points.

c) Time for organizing direct admission: University of Social Sciences and Humanities organizes direct admission in 2022 before 12:00 on April 11, 2022 immediately after the deadline for reviewing documents and notifies candidates of the results at least 1 week before organizing the entrance exam.

Candidates who do not meet the direct admission conditions will be transferred to the exam format in the first admission period of 2022.

d) Direct admission quota: does not exceed the quota allocated for each major.

e) Principle of direct admission: consider the correct subjects specified in point a) of this section, consider from high to low until the quota is full.

f) Direct admission fee: Candidates applying for direct admission pay the same fee as candidates applying for regular admission.

II.Training recruitmenttPhD

1. List of majors for doctoral training

2. Admission requirements:

a) General requirements for candidates:

- Clear personal history, not serving a criminal sentence or disciplinary action from warning level or above.

- Be healthy enough to study.

- Graduated with a master's degree or a regular university degree with honors or higher in a relevant field, or graduated with a level equivalent to level 7 according to the Vietnamese National Qualifications Framework in a number of specific specialized training fields suitable for doctoral training. Diplomas issued by foreign educational institutions must undergo recognition procedures according to current regulations.

- Have research experience demonstrated through a master's thesis of a research-oriented training program and published works according to regulations. Candidates with an applied master's degree or applying from a bachelor's degree must be the author or co-author of at least 01 article in a specialized scientific journal or 01 scientific report published in the proceedings of national or international scientific conferences or seminars with peer review, with an ISBN publication code related to the field or research topic, recognized by the council of professors and associate professors of the industry/interdisciplinary.

- Have a research outline, clearly stating the name of the proposed topic, research field; reasons for choosing the field, research topic; summary of the research situation in that field at home and abroad; research objectives; some main research contents; research methods and expected results; reasons for choosing the training unit; implementation plan during the training period; experiences, knowledge, understanding as well as preparations of the candidate for the doctoral thesis. The outline can propose supervisors.

- Have a letter of recommendation from at least 01 scientist with the title of professor, associate professor or a doctorate in science or doctorate who has participated in professional activities with the applicant and is knowledgeable about the professional field in which the applicant intends to research. The letter of recommendation must include comments and assessments of the applicant on:

+ Ethical qualities, scientific research capacity and attitude, professional qualifications of candidates;

+ For scientists who meet the criteria of a PhD supervisor and agree to be a thesis supervisor, it is necessary to add comments on the urgency and feasibility of the research topic and content; and clearly state the ability to mobilize PhD students for research topics and projects as well as the funding source that can be spent on the PhD student's research activities.

+ Other comments and level of support, recommendation of candidates for PhD study.

- Have an official dispatch to attend the recruitment exam from the direct management agency according to current regulations on training and fostering civil servants and public employees (if the candidate is a civil servant or public employee);

- Meet the requirements of experience and seniority according to the specific requirements of each training major (see section e)

- Commit to fulfill financial obligations during the training process according to the regulations of the training unit.

b) Candidates who are Vietnamese citizens must meet the foreign language proficiency requirements in accordance with the foreign language requirements of the training program, as evidenced by one of the following diplomas or certificates:

- A university degree or higher issued by a foreign training institution, a branch of a foreign training institution in Vietnam or a Vietnamese training institution to a full-time student in a foreign language;

- Bachelor's degree in foreign languages ​​or foreign language pedagogy issued by Vietnamese training institutions;

- One of the foreign language certificates equivalent to the levelLevel 4or higher (according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam), recognized by VNU as valid as of the date of application (list of certificates and certificate-issuing institutions see the content of foreign language requirements for master's candidates in section I)

c) Applicants who are foreign citizens and register to study a doctoral training program in Vietnamese must have a Vietnamese language proficiency of Level 4 or higher according to the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework for Foreigners or have graduated from university (or equivalent level) or higher where the training program is taught in Vietnamese; meet the second foreign language requirements as prescribed by the training institution (if any), except in the case of being a native speaker of the language used in the training program.

d) Other requirements according to the characteristics of the unit and training program.

- Candidates registering for doctoral training under Project 89 of the Ministry of Education and Training must meet the selection criteria in Article 5 of Circular 25/2021/TT-BGDDT dated September 8, 2021. The list of majors trained under Project 89 of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU according to Decision 1667/QD-BGDDT dated June 1, 2021 of the Ministry of Education and Training includes:

- Candidates who meet the conditions in Article 4 of the Regulations on granting scholarships of VNU for doctoral students and post-doctoral interns with excellent research capacity issued under Decision No. 3688/QD-VNU dated November 19, 2021 of the Director of VNU can submit an application for scholarships for doctoral students with excellent research capacity.

e) Seniority conditions:

- No work experience required including majors:Social work, Political science, Tourism, Southeast Asian studies, Ho Chi Minh studies, Archaeology, Literary theory, History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, History of history and historical materials, World history, Vietnamese history, Linguistics, Comparative linguistics, Vietnamese language, Languages ​​of ethnic minorities, Anthropology, International relations, Psychology, Religious studies, Sinology, Vietnamese literature, Folk literature, Foreign literature

- Requires at least 01 year of professional work experience in the field of the registered major (from the date of signing the decision to recognize university graduation to the date of admission) for the following majors:Information Science - Library, Sociology.

- Requires at least 02 years of professional work experience in the field of the registered major (from the date of signing the decision to recognize university graduation to the date of admission) for the following majors:Journalism, Dialectical Materialism and Historical Materialism (no experience required for those with a master's degree in Philosophy or a bachelor's degree in Philosophy with honors or higher), Scientific Socialism (no experience required for those with a master's degree in Philosophy or a bachelor's degree in Philosophy with honors or higher), Sino-Nom, Archival Studies (no experience required for those with a master's degree in Archives or a bachelor's degree in Archives with honors or higher), Science and Technology Management.

III. Registration procedures and entrance exam schedule

1. Application procedure:

Time for organizing direct admission: University of Social Sciences and Humanities organizes direct admission after the registration deadline and before 12:00 on April 11, 2022 and notifies candidates of the results at least 1 week before the entrance exam.

IV. Training time for master's and doctoral programs

- Master: Standard training time is 2 years;

- Doctorate: Standard training time for people with a master's degree is 03 years, for people with a bachelor's degree with honors or higher is 04 years.

V. Fees:

1. For master's training admission:300,000 VND/candidate.

2. For PhD training admission:260,000 VND/candidate(recruitment from master's degree),500,000 VND/candidate(recruitment from bachelor's degree).
