The University of Social Sciences and Humanities announces the training schedule for students admitted through the supplementary application process in 2012. Students who applied for supplementary admission and were accepted are eligible to apply for high-quality training programs (except for students admitted to Philosophy in Group A, who must achieve a score of 17 or higher). On September 12, 2012, the University will hold the first entrance exam for the high-quality training programs in Management Science and Literature. After September 14, 2012, the enrollment quotas for the second round for Management Science and Literature (as announced below) will be updated on this website.

I. Admission to high-quality training programs
1. Criteria: 100: Literature - 25, History - 25, Philosophy - 20, and Management Science - 30.
2. Student benefits:In addition to the general benefits of regular undergraduate students, students in high-quality undergraduate programs also enjoy the following benefits: - Direct teaching and research guidance from leading scientists, professors, and lecturers with high professional qualifications and prestige. - Free participation in one extracurricular course per semester throughout the course to enhance lifelong learning skills, job-seeking abilities, and personal development. - Priority access to the VNU electronic library account, priority use of learning materials, technical equipment, library facilities, and internet systems for learning and scientific research. - Priority in dormitory accommodation from the second year of study; annually, they are provided with a card to purchase textbooks and reference materials free of charge at publishers and bookstores designated by the University. - Students will receive academic achievement scholarships (expected amounts: Type A: 560,000 VND/month, Type B: 520,000 VND/month, Type C: 480,000 VND/month) and scholarships sponsored by domestic and international organizations and individuals. - They will be given priority in being considered for overseas study under state quotas or international cooperation programs that align with the goal of training high-quality bachelor's degree graduates of Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the University. - Upon graduation, they will be given priority in being considered for postgraduate and doctoral studies or for recruitment as teaching staff or research staff of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
3. Selection criteria and methods
3.1. Selection CriteriaStudents admitted to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in 2012 (direct admission, entrance exam, regardless of major), who meet the requirements for foreign language proficiency and essay writing, and also satisfy one of the following conditions: a. Achieved third prize or higher nationally in the 12th grade excellent student competition (2011, 2012) b. Was an excellent student for three consecutive years in high school (grades 10, 11, and 12) c. Graduated from a specialized high school affiliated with a university or centrally-administered province/city d. University entrance exam scores (including regional and preferential treatment points): Management Science (Block A: from 17 points, Block C: from 21.5 points, Block D: from 17.5 points), History (Block C: from 18 points, Block D: from 17 points), Literature (Block C: from 18.5 points, Block D: from 17 points), Philosophy (Block A: from 17 points, Block C: from 18 points, Block D: from 17 points).

II. Enrollment for the French language course specializing in Clinical Psychology

2. Student Rights- Students will study a Psychology program with an additional 440 hours of French language instruction and some specialized subjects taught in French. - Priority access to learning materials, resources, and internet access for the French-language postgraduate program. - Priority consideration for academic achievement scholarships (expected amounts: Type A: 560,000 VND/month, Type B: 520,000 VND/month, Type C: 480,000 VND/month) and scholarships sponsored by domestic and international organizations and individuals. - Priority as a source of applicants for joint postgraduate programs between universities in the Republic of France and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; and as a source for selecting candidates for postgraduate studies abroad with state scholarships or international cooperation programs of the university.
3. Selection criteria and methods
3.1. Selection CriteriaStudents who were admitted to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in 2012 (through direct admission or entrance examination, regardless of the major), met the foreign language proficiency test requirements, and had university entrance exam scores (including regional and preferential treatment points): 18 points or more for Block A, 19.5 points or more for Block B, 20 points or more for Block C, and 18.5 points or more for Block D, are eligible to register for admission consideration.
3.2. Selection MethodAdmission will be based on university entrance exam scores among students who meet the foreign language proficiency requirements, with priority given to students who have studied French in high school.
III. Implementation Schedule
- Registration deadline: 5 PM, September 25, 2012
- Essay writing competition: 4 PM, September 26, 2012
- English exam: 5:30 PM, September 26, 2012
- Course start date: October 1, 2012
NoteThe "Start of Classes" schedule only applies to advanced courses in the high-quality training program; for other courses, students will study according to the existing timetable.
IV. Registration for admission- Obtain application forms and submit your application at room 604, building E, University of Social Sciences and Humanities. - Examination and application fee: 150,000 VND/student
V. Notes for students- The list of candidates will be posted at the Information Room, 1st floor, Building G, from 1:30 PM on September 26, 2012. The admission results will be announced at 4:00 PM on Friday, September 28, 2012. - If admitted, students are not allowed to change their preferences; if not admitted, they will continue studying the major they enrolled in.
VI. Regulations regarding essay writing and English exams
1. Essay writing testThe essay must be completed within 60 minutes, with no word or page count restrictions. The exam will cover topics related to the field of study the student is applying for.
2. English test- The English test lasts 60 minutes. - The test consists of 3 parts: + Part I (Grammar and Vocabulary) has 10 multiple-choice questions. The given text is an incomplete sentence with suggested answers A, B, C, D. + Part II (Reading Comprehension) has 2 passages: a) The given text is a passage of approximately 120-150 words, with 5 questions or 5 incomplete sentences with 4 multiple-choice answers A, B, C, D based on the content of the reading passage. Students answer by choosing the correct answer. b) The given text is a passage of approximately 100 words with 10 blanks. There are 10 questions, and students must answer by filling in the blanks with words/phrases. + Part III (Writing) has 2 requirements: a) The given text consists of suggested words. There are 5 questions, and students must write 5 complete sentences. b) Given a topic and some suggestions, students write a paragraph of approximately 80-100 words.
Part two: English proficiency assessment for exemption from courses and recognition of English credits.
1. Use the exam results.Exam results are categorized into levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2. Students who achieve a certain level are exempt from certain courses, receive the maximum score for the corresponding course, and for courses at lower levels. For example, a student who achieves a B1 level will receive an A+ grade for English A1, English A2, and English B1, totaling 14 credits. Tuition fees for these courses will be waived.
2. Exam timeSeptember 23, 2012 (7:00 AM: Listening, Vocabulary-Grammar, Reading, Writing; 1:00 PM: Speaking test.)
3. Examination locationAt building A2, University of Foreign Languages (Pham Van Dong Street, Cau Giay District, Hanoi)
4. Examination fees: 150,000 VND (one hundred and fifty thousand Vietnamese Dong). Payment must be made at the exam registration location.

7. Students need to remember:
- Students majoring in International Studies, Psychology, Literature, Sociology, Vietnamese Language and Literature Education, and History Education who register for the English proficiency assessment exam will have their introductory political science course temporarily postponed and will be transferred to study with students admitted through the supplementary admissions process. The Training Department will forward the list of students whose courses are temporarily postponed to the Political and Student Affairs Department.
- The list of examination rooms will be announced 5 days before the exam date on the website of the University of Foreign Languages (http://www.ulis.vnu.edu.vn) under the section Training – Foreign Language Training in VNU – Announcements.
- The exam results are expected to be announced on September 27, 2012.
- From the enrollment date until September 27, 2012, students who registered for this exam are not required to take the English course included in the timetable provided by the university on enrollment day. The university will provide specific information regarding the course schedule once the exam results are available.
