I. Eligibility for participation

Citizens of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam who meet the conditions stipulated in the Regulations on Postgraduate Training at Hanoi National University, issued under Decision No. 1555/QD-DHQGHN dated May 25, 2011, by the Director of Hanoi National University.

II. Admission requirements for master's degree programs

1. Candidates applying to the standard master's program at Hanoi National University must meet the following conditions: a) Have a clear personal background and not currently be under criminal investigation; b) Hold a university degree in a field directly related or relevant to the registered specialization; or hold a regular university degree in a field closely related to the registered specialization, having completed supplementary studies to achieve a level equivalent to a university degree in the field of the registered specialization; c) Have at least one year of work experience in a professional field relevant to the registered specialization (calculated from the date of the Decision recognizing university graduation to the date of the examination), except for those with a university degree of "good" or higher in a field directly related or relevant to the registered specialization; d) Be in good health to study. 2. Candidates applying to the international standard master's program must meet all the conditions as for candidates applying to the standard master's program of Hanoi National University, in addition to: a) Possessing an original IELTS 4.0, TOEFL 400 or higher English certificate or equivalent issued by the University of Foreign Languages ​​or an accredited organization. These certificates are valid for 24 months from the date of issuance or the date of the exam; b) Committing to participating in the course in a full-time format.

III. Specializations with specific considerations

1. Major in Political Science/Ho Chi Minh Studies* Regarding qualifications: - A university degree in Political Science or a related field; - Or a regular degree in Philosophy, History, International Studies, Political Education (Civic Education), Management Science (Social Management), Journalism, Party and State Administration, Law, Sociology, Political Economy, or Foreign Trade Economics after completing supplementary courses (31 credits) to achieve a level equivalent to a university degree in Political Science; - Or a regular university degree in other fields after completing supplementary courses (51 credits) to achieve a level equivalent to a university degree in Political Science. * Work experience: - Individuals with a university degree classified as "good" or higher are eligible to take the exam immediately after graduating from a university in a field directly related to or related to the registered specialization. - Individuals with a university degree of average grade in a field directly related to or relevant to the registered major, or a degree in a closely related field, must have at least one year of work experience in a professional field relevant to the registered major (calculated from the date of the university graduation certificate to the date of the exam). - Individuals with a degree in another field must have at least three years of work experience in a professional field relevant to the registered major (calculated from the date of the university graduation certificate to the date of the exam).2. Information and Library Science Major* Regarding qualifications: - Possess a university degree in a field directly related to or relevant to Library and Information Science; - Or possess a regular university degree in a field closely related to Library and Information Science, having completed supplementary training to achieve a level equivalent to a university degree in Library and Information Science; - Or possess a regular university degree in other fields after completing supplementary training. * Work experience: - Individuals with a university degree classified as "good" or higher are eligible to take the exam immediately after graduating from a university in a field directly related to or relevant to the registered major. - Individuals with a university degree classified as "average" in a field directly related to or relevant to the registered major, or a degree in a field closely related to the registered major, must have at least one year of work experience in a professional field relevant to the registered major (calculated from the date of the Decision recognizing university graduation to the date of the exam). - Graduates with degrees in other fields must have at least three years of work experience in a professional field relevant to the major they are applying for (calculated from the date of the university graduation certificate to the date of the exam).3. Science and Technology Management Major* Regarding qualifications: Must possess a full-time, full-time, or part-time university degree and a certificate of supplementary knowledge in the field of study for the examination. * Work experience and eligibility criteria: Must have at least one year of work experience in a field related to the registered major (calculated from the date of the university graduation certificate to the date of the examination), in one of the following positions: leaders and specialists in science and technology management units of state administrative and public service agencies; political organizations; socio-political organizations; social-professional organizations; enterprises of various economic sectors; non-governmental organizations.4. Tourism Major* Regarding qualifications: - A university degree in Tourism; - Or a regular degree in tourism economics, tourism geography, or tourism culture; - Or a university degree in another field. * Regarding work experience: - Individuals with a university degree classified as "good" or higher are eligible to take the exam immediately after graduation from a university in a field directly related to or suitable for the registered major. - Individuals with a regular degree in tourism economics, tourism geography, or tourism culture must have at least one year of work experience in a professional field relevant to the registered major (calculated from the date of the graduation certificate to the date of the exam) and have completed supplementary training to achieve a level equivalent to a university degree in tourism. - Individuals holding a university degree in another field but with at least three years of continuous work experience in the tourism sector (calculated from the date of the graduation certificate to the date of the exam) who have completed supplementary training to achieve a level equivalent to a university degree in tourism.5. Journalism Major* Regarding qualifications: - A university degree in a field directly related to or relevant to Journalism; - Or a regular university degree in a field closely related to Journalism, with supplementary studies to achieve a level equivalent to a university degree in Journalism; - Or a regular university degree in other fields after completing supplementary studies. * Work experience: - Individuals with a university degree classified as "good" or higher are eligible to take the exam immediately after graduating from a university in a field directly related to or relevant to the registered major. - Individuals with a university degree classified as "average" in a field directly related to or relevant to the registered major, or a degree in a field closely related to the registered major, must have at least one year of work experience in a professional field relevant to the registered major (calculated from the date of the Decision recognizing university graduation to the date of the exam). - Graduates with degrees in other fields must have at least three years of work experience in a professional field relevant to the major they are applying for (calculated from the date of the university graduation certificate to the date of the exam).

IV. Eligibility requirements for doctoral training

1. Candidates applying to the standard doctoral program at Hanoi National University must meet the following conditions: a) Have a clear personal record and not currently be under criminal investigation. b) Meet one of the following conditions regarding degrees and published works: - Hold a master's degree in a research-oriented field or have a master's thesis with a workload of 10 credits or more in the correct, relevant, or closely related field of study; - Hold a master's degree in a practice-oriented field of study that is correct, relevant, or closely related to the field of study of study and have at least one article published in a scientific journal or conference proceedings before submitting the application; - Hold a master's degree in another field and a bachelor's degree in a regular university program that is correct or relevant to the field of study ... In this case, candidates must have at least one article published in a scientific journal or conference proceedings before submitting their application and must take the entrance exam under the regulations for those without a master's degree; - Hold a regular undergraduate degree in the relevant field, with a GPA of excellent or higher, and have at least one article published in a scientific journal or conference proceedings before submitting their application; - Hold a regular undergraduate degree in the relevant field, with a GPA of good, and have at least two articles published in scientific journals or conference proceedings before submitting their application. The content of the articles must be relevant to the registered specialization and published in scientific journals of Hanoi National University, reputable national or international scientific journals, or in officially published (peer-reviewed) proceedings of national or international scientific conferences. c) Be recommended by at least two scientists holding the title of professor, associate professor, or a doctorate in the same field or research area, with one scientist acting as thesis supervisor; d) Have a research proposal clearly outlining the reasons for choosing the research field, the reasons for choosing the training institution, research objectives, implementation plan during the training period; the experience and professional knowledge the candidate has prepared and the planned scientific activities after completing the doctoral training program; e) Candidates for doctoral programs must have at least two years of professional work experience in the field of the registered specialization (calculated from the date of signing the decision recognizing university graduation to the date of enrollment), except in the case of transfer students; h) Be in good health to study. 2. Candidates applying to the international standard doctoral program must meet all the conditions as for candidates applying to the standard doctoral program of Hanoi National University, in addition to: a) Possess an original IELTS 4.5, TOEFL 450 or higher, or equivalent English certificate issued by the University of Foreign Languages ​​or an accredited organization. These certificates are valid for 24 months from the date of issuance or the date of the exam; b) Commit to participating in the course in a full-time format.

V. Preferential policies in admissions

1. Candidates are given priority in admission if they belong to the following categories: a) Those with two or more consecutive years of work experience (as of the date of the exam) in communes located in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions in mountainous, highland, remote, or island regions as defined by the Government; b) War invalids, sick soldiers, and those entitled to policies similar to war invalids; c) Heroes of the Armed Forces, Labor Heroes, and those who have made contributions to the revolution; d) Ethnic minorities in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions. 2. Priority candidates must have all valid supporting documents as prescribed by Hanoi National University and must submit them fully and on time along with their application for the exam. 3. Candidates belonging to priority categories will receive an additional ten points (on a 100-point scale) for the foreign language subject and one point (on a 10-point scale) for the basic subject. Candidates belonging to multiple priority categories will only receive priority once.

VI. Examination Subjects

Basic subjects, foundational subjects, foreign language (one of five languages: Russian, German, English, French, Chinese, in multiple-choice format, with a common exam for both master's and doctoral programs).

VII. Application Documents

The application documents issued by the school include: 1. Application form for the entrance examination according to the form of Hanoi National University. 2. Personal resume with confirmation from the managing agency or local government where the applicant resides (for those not working in state-owned or private agencies, units, or enterprises, or those working in agencies but not sent to study by their agency). 3. Certificate of good health for studying from a general hospital (valid for 6 months from the date of application). 4. Certified copies of the following diplomas and certificates: - University degree and transcript with classification confirmed by the competent authority (for applicants for master's or doctoral programs who do not yet have a master's degree); master's degree and transcript (for applicants for doctoral programs who already have a master's degree) - Certificate of supplementary knowledge (if required to take supplementary courses); - Recruitment or appointment decision (if a state official) or long-term employment contract and certificate of work experience. - Notarized copy of legal documents regarding priority status (if any). - Legal documents regarding foreign language proficiency (if any). 5. Letter of recommendation from the head of the managing agency for candidates currently working in state or non-state agencies, units, or enterprises. 6. Three envelopes with the candidate's address already written, stamped, and four 3x4 photos. 7. Doctoral research proposal, scientific resume, and copies of published research works (for candidates applying for doctoral training). 8. Two letters of recommendation from two scientists with the academic titles of Professor, Associate Professor, or Doctor of Science, Doctor of Philosophy in the same field, one of whom will serve as the thesis supervisor. The letter of recommendation should include comments and assessments of the candidate's abilities and qualities (for candidates applying for doctoral programs).

VIII. Candidates exempt from the foreign language exam

1. Possess a full-time university degree in a foreign language in one of the five languages: English, Russian, French, German, or Chinese; 2. Possess a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree from a foreign university where the language of study and research was one of the five languages ​​mentioned above; 3. Possess an original IELTS certificate with a score of 4.0 or higher, TOEFL with a score of 400 or higher, or equivalent, issued by the University of Foreign Languages ​​or an accredited organization (for master's degree applicants); IELTS with a score of 4.5 or higher, TOEFL with a score of 450 or higher, or equivalent, issued by the University of Foreign Languages ​​or an accredited organization (for doctoral degree applicants). These certificates are valid for 24 months from the date of issuance or the date of the examination. 4. Possess an original foreign language certificate confirming the level of proficiency required for postgraduate studies at VNU, issued by the University of Foreign Languages, and still valid for the level of study applied for.

IX. Admission Plan

Application forms are available for purchase from June 4th to July 13th, 2012 (excluding Saturdays and Sundays). Applications are accepted from July 16th to July 27th, 2012 (excluding Saturdays and Sundays).
