China Research Center

The Center for Chinese Studies was established on February 20, 2002. The Center is a research, training and application unit in the field of Chinese studies, under the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The Center is one of the first centers for Chinese studies research in Vietnam, specializing in research, training and application of issues related to China, especially issues of history, philosophy, language, culture, society, economics, politics, and diplomacy of China; experiences in state building, cultural preservation and development, management and transformation of socio-economic structure; experiences in modernization, sustainable development and integration of China since the reform and opening up.

In addition, the center also has a large team of collaborators, who are excellent staff, lecturers and students, with capacity and experience in the field of teaching and researching issues on China, and have participated in and carried out scientific research works, projects and topics at home and abroad.

Mission and development strategy

  • Gather and build a team of prestigious domestic and foreign researchers and scholars in the fields of research, training and application of Chinese studies;
  • Participate in university and postgraduate training;
  • Research collaboration with Institutes, Centers and international organizations
  • Striving to become one of the leading research and training units on Chinese studies in Vietnam.

Main activities

- Organize topics, research programs, organize domestic and international seminars
  • Successfully organized the Workshop "China's reform and opening up and lessons learned" in October 2002;
  • Accepted the special topic at the National University level "China's reform and opening up and lessons learned" in 2003;
  • Successfully organized the Scientific Seminars “Philosophy of Reform and Opening” in 2001-2002, “Confucianism and Market Economy” in 2001-2002, “Philosophy of Harmony - Theoretical and Practical Issues” in November 2007;
  • Currently collaborating with the Confucian Center, Peking University to compile the "World Confucian Classics" series.
- Training and training coordination
  • Coordinate training for Bachelor, Master and Doctorate degrees with the Institute of History, Institute of Southeast Asia, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Department of Han Nom under the Faculty of Literature, University of Social Sciences and Humanities;
  • Training in collaboration with the Department of Vietnamese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Languages, School of Foreign Languages, Peking University, China;
- Scientific exchangeInvited many famous domestic and international scholars and scientists from Peking University, Nankai University, Renmin University of China, Shandong University, Zhengzhou University, Yunnan University, Guangxi University, Zhongshan University, etc. to visit and teach at faculties, centers and other units in the school.- Translation, publishing and document exchange
  • Organized the translation of many books, documents and textbooks for the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Faculty of Literature, Faculty of History, Faculty of Philosophy, Faculty of Management, Faculty of Sociology, etc.
  • Exchanged documents and latest research achievements with many professors, scientists, universities, and research institutes at home and abroad.
- Study abroad consultingHas promoted cooperation with many universities in China and Taiwan; has consulted and found many scholarship opportunities for students in the school and collaborators of the Center to study for bachelor's, master's, doctoral degrees as well as to do internships at many prestigious universities in China and Taiwan such as Peking University, Beijing Language University, Nankai University, Yunnan University, Wuhan University, Zhongshan University, Tsinghua University, Chenggong University, etc.
