The Center for Chinese Studies was established on February 20, 2002. The Center is a research, training, and application unit in the field of Chinese studies, under the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The Center is one of the first centers for Chinese studies research in Vietnam, specializing in research, training, and application of issues related to China, particularly its history, philosophy, language, culture, society, economics, politics, and diplomacy; its experiences in state building, cultural preservation and development, economic and social restructuring; and its experiences in modernization, sustainable development, and integration since the reform and opening up.

In addition, the center has a large team of collaborators, including outstanding staff, lecturers, and students with competence and experience in teaching and researching issues related to China, who have participated in and carried out scientific research projects and studies both domestically and internationally.
Mission and development strategy
- To assemble and build a team of reputable researchers and scholars, both domestically and internationally, in the field of research, training, and application of Chinese studies;
- Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate training programs;
- Collaborate on research with institutes, centers, and international organizations.
- Our goal is to become one of the leading research and training institutions in Chinese studies in Vietnam.
Main activities
- Organizing research projects and programs, and holding domestic and international conferences.
- Successfully organized the seminar "China's Reform and Opening Up and Lessons Learned" in October 2002;
- The special research project at the National University level, "China's Reform and Opening Up and Lessons Learned," was completed and approved in 2003;
- Successfully organized the Scientific Seminars “Philosophy of Reform and Opening Up” in 2001-2002, “Confucianism and the Market Economy” in 2001-2002, and “Harmonious Philosophy - Theoretical and Practical Issues” in November 2007;
- We are collaborating with the Center for Confucian Studies at Peking University to compile the "World Confucian Classics".
- Training and collaborative training
- Collaborative training programs for Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees are offered in collaboration with the Institute of History, the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, the Faculty of Oriental Studies, and the Department of Sino-Vietnamese Studies within the Faculty of Literature at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
- In collaboration with the Department of Vietnamese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Languages, Institute of Foreign Languages, Peking University, China;
- Scientific exchangeMany renowned domestic and international scholars and scientists from Peking University, Nankai University, Renmin University of China, Shandong University, Zhengzhou University, Yunnan University, Guangxi University, Sun Yat-sen University, etc., have been invited to visit and teach at the university's departments, centers, and other units.
- Translation, publishing, and exchange of documents
- We have organized the translation of numerous books, documents, and textbooks for the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the Faculty of Literature, the Faculty of History, the Faculty of Philosophy, the Faculty of Management, the Faculty of Sociology, etc.
- We have exchanged documents and the latest research findings with many professors, scientists, universities, and research institutes both domestically and internationally.
- Study abroad consultingWe have fostered cooperative relationships with many universities in China and Taiwan; we have advised and found many scholarship opportunities for students and collaborators of the Center to pursue bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees, as well as internships, at many prestigious universities in China and Taiwan such as Peking University, Beijing Language University, Nankai University, Yunnan University, Wuhan University, Sun Yat-sen University, Tsinghua University, Cheng Kung University, etc.
