During the meeting, Professor Nguyen Van Khanh proposed new areas of cooperation between the two sides. Most notably, he suggested organizing an international conference on EFEO and social sciences in Vietnam, jointly organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Vietnam Institute of History, and the French School of Far Eastern Studies, with the participation of French and Vietnamese scientists. After discussions, both sides agreed on several basic points for organizing this conference.

The workshop, scheduled for early December 2014, will focus on the following main topics: EFEO and the formation of social science disciplines in Vietnam during the colonial period; EFEO's activities and achievements since 1993; EFEO's role in preserving cultural heritage in Vietnam; EFEO's international cooperation; and cooperation between EFEO and Vietnam in training and research in social sciences. In addition, there will be side exhibitions showcasing the history of EFEO's activities in Vietnam.

Professor Nguyen Van Khanh highly appreciated the importance of EFEO to Vietnamese social sciences through opening up new trends in social science research and training a team of social science intellectuals in our country. The planned conference will be an opportunity to introduce the history, activities, and contributions of EFEO to social sciences as well as the preservation of Vietnamese cultural heritage.
