At the meeting, Mr. Virgilio Andrade Martínez expressed his desire to establish cooperative relations between Mexican universities and the USSH through activities such as student and lecturer exchanges and organizing seminars. According to him, the Asia-Pacific region is increasingly having a wide influence globally, with Vietnam being an example. To penetrate further into the large Asia-Pacific market, it is essential to have an understanding of this region. Therefore, educational cooperation plays a very important role as a knowledge bridge to help Mexican students and youth better understand the region in general and Vietnam in particular. The USSH will be one of the future destinations for Mexican students, trainees and researchers as an educational bridge between Vietnam and Mexico.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh agreed with the wishes of Mr. Virgilio Andrade Martínez and hoped that the Mexican Embassy in Vietnam would support the USSH in areas such as: expanding cooperation between the University and universities in Mexico, developing the American Studies major at the University and moving towards establishing a Mexican Studies Department, disseminating information on Mexican economy, culture and society to lecturers, students and staff of the University; and creating conditions for professors and lecturers of the University to study and work at universities in Mexico.
Mr. Virgilio Andrade Martínez highly appreciated the proposals of Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh and committed to promoting the above activities with the Mexican Embassy in the future. At the same time, he also proposed to organize a conference on Mexico and Asia-Pacific countries: Opportunities and challenges (expected) in the near future. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh supported this proposal.
