The Master of International Peace Studies program at the two universities is a joint initiative between the Nippon Foundation and the University for Peace - Costa Rica, in collaboration with the Ateneo de Manila University - Philippines. The program aims to provide students from Asian countries with the opportunity to pursue peace studies at the postgraduate level using a language competency-based training model.

The program aims to provide students from Asian countries with the opportunity to pursue peace studies at the postgraduate level using a language competency-based training model.
This master's program provides individuals with limited English proficiency the opportunity to work in a global language environment and feel comfortable with their professional and academic skills. In this program, students have the opportunity to apply their professional and practical knowledge in a 4-month internship at the end of their master's program. Students accepted to this program will receive a scholarship from Nippon. The scholarship includes: tuition, language training program, study materials, round-trip airfare, and living expenses during the research period.
This program is designed to help students from different cultures and backgrounds to have a common understanding of the major issues of peace and security that determine the future of humanity. Through the courses, students will expand their common knowledge and participate in discussions and exchanges of concepts, topics, and fundamental debates in the study of international conflict and peace, thereby helping students to be more competent in their ability to perform work after graduation in non-governmental organizations, government agencies, relief organizations, United Nations organizations, etc.
With this 19-month program, students will take courses at Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines and at the San José Peace University Center in Costa Rica for 3 semesters after completing their language training.
This program is accepting scholarship applications from countries in Asia such as Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand…
The scholarship application is available on the website of Hoa Binh University, including: Scholarship application, university certificate, three letters of recommendation, resume, an essay about the purpose of participating in the course, English certificate (TOEFL or IELTS), 6 passport photos, Costa Rica visa application form.
