The Master's Program in International Peace Studies at the two universities is a joint initiative between the Nippon Foundation and the University for Peace in Costa Rica, in collaboration with Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines. This program aims to provide Asian students with the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies in peace research using a language-based training model.
This master's program provides individuals with limited English proficiency the opportunity to work in a global language environment and gain confidence through their professional and academic skills. Students have the chance to apply their professional and practical knowledge through a four-month internship at the end of their master's program. Accepted students will receive a scholarship from Nippon Foundation. The scholarship covers tuition fees, language training, study materials, round-trip airfare, and living expenses during the study period.
This program is designed to help students from diverse cultural backgrounds and educational systems develop a shared understanding of key issues concerning peace and security, which will determine the future of humanity. Through the courses, students will broaden their general knowledge and participate in discussions and exchanges of fundamental concepts, topics, and debates in the study of international conflict and peace. This will enhance their competence for post-graduation employment in non-governmental organizations, government agencies, aid organizations, and United Nations organizations.
With this 19-month program, students will undertake courses at Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines and at the San José Peace University Center in Costa Rica for three semesters after completing their language training.
This program is accepting scholarship applications from countries in Asia such as Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, etc.
