From 2008-2009, as part of efforts to promote the sending/receiving of students, researchers, and lecturers to study and conduct research abroad, Wallonie-Bruxells International (WBI) - the International Cooperation agency of Wallonie-Bruxells (the French-speaking Community of Belgium and the Wallonie Region) - established a new scholarship program: the IN.WBI talent scholarship.
The IN.WBI scholarship program is for foreign students who have a Master's degree (level II) or an equivalent degree, or a doctoral degree awarded by a foreign university and recognized by the competent authorities of Wallonie-Bruxells as equivalent to a Master's or Doctoral degree in Wallonie-Bruxells.
This program is for candidates wishing to pursue advanced training courses or conduct specialized research at universities in Wallonia-Brussels or at universities funded by the French-speaking Community of Belgium. Therefore, the IN.WBI scholarship program is perfectly suited for Vietnamese candidates. The goal of IN.WBI is to provide opportunities for talented professionals and outstanding researchers from various countries to enhance their education in Wallonia and Brussels.
A person holding a Master's degree (level II) or an equivalent qualification, along with a PhD awarded by a foreign university, must have that Master's degree recognized by the competent authorities of Wallonie-Brussels as equivalent to a Belgian Master's degree (level II). Furthermore, that Master's degree must qualify the holder to pursue doctoral or postdoctoral studies at a university in Wallonie or Brussels.
- Doctoral or postdoctoral scholarships are awarded for a minimum term of one year and can be renewed a maximum of two times;
- Short-term research scholarships ranging from 1 to 3 months are offered for doctoral or postdoctoral level students; these scholarships do not cover the field research costs of the applicants.
Priority areas are those included in the Wallonia Marshall Plan: transport and logistics; engineering; life sciences; agriculture and industry; aerospace. All other fields in the humanities, basic sciences, or applied sciences may be considered.
Important note: when applying for the scholarship, applicants must submit a certificate of acceptance from the university/research institution in Wallonie-Bruxelles.
