Plan for the Scientific Workshop on Corporate Office Management

The corporate office is the workplace, the headquarters, and the official point of contact and transaction for a business with external agencies and partners. The office is considered the "general staff," the "brain" of the business, providing strong advice and support to managers in making and implementing management decisions. The effectiveness of the corporate office significantly impacts the overall performance of the entire enterprise. Therefore, in the current context, office management is a matter of particular concern for business managers and is one of the solutions to help Vietnamese businesses overcome the crisis period and achieve sustainable development. Over the years, despite many innovations, the general public's understanding, and that of businesses in particular, regarding the role of the office and office management remains incomplete. The operational efficiency of offices in many businesses is still low, and office management solutions still lack professionalism and consistency. This has significantly impacted the operational efficiency of businesses in Vietnam in general, and business managers in particular. Meanwhile, in developed countries, office management is always a matter of concern for businesses, both theoretically and practically. This reality poses research and discussion challenges for scientists and business managers to clarify theoretical issues regarding office management and its application to the practical conditions in Vietnam. Based on these reasons, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Business Administrators (VACD) is organizing a scientific conference:"Corporate Office Management: From Theory to Practice"With the above theme, the workshop focused on the following key issues:
  • Clarify the position and role of the Office and Office Management in enterprises, especially emphasizing the role of supporting and impacting the management and production activities of enterprises during the period of integration, overcoming crises to achieve sustainable development;
  • This study compiles research findings from Vietnam and around the world from a theoretical perspective on office management; it clarifies the similarities and differences in office management and office work in businesses and government agencies, as well as between different types of businesses.
  • Analyzing and sharing experiences from practical office management in several businesses (especially member businesses of VACD) to provide a basis for comparison and contrast with theoretical issues and to clarify the specific characteristics of offices and office management in businesses in Vietnam;
  • To exchange and share with business managers specific directions, solutions, and experiences to improve the capacity and efficiency of corporate office management in the current and future context;
  • Clarify the requirements and solutions for equipping and enhancing the administrative and office skills of the personnel in corporate offices, especially the requirements regarding in-depth expertise, personal qualities, professional work style, ability to withstand work pressure, and communication and interaction culture with superiors, subordinates, colleagues, partners, and customers;
  • This analysis examines the principles, requirements, and specific measures that businesses can use to effectively organize and control fundamental office operations, such as: developing programs and activity plans; implementing ISO-standard quality management systems; organizing and managing information systems, document systems, and archived records; managing office assets and equipment; organizing meetings and events; reception and ceremonial activities; and solutions for minimizing and saving office costs.
  • Analyze the role of the office in advising and implementing the development of corporate culture, building and promoting the brand for the business;
  • Clarify the human resource needs in the field of office administration for businesses and the challenges facing current training programs.
