This morning, September 15, 2010, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities solemnly held the opening ceremony for the new academic year 2010-2011.In his opening speech, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - the Rector of the University - reviewed the important and outstanding achievements that the University had attained in the 2009-2010 academic year in all aspects: political ideology, training, scientific research, personnel organization, foreign relations and international training cooperation, financial activities and infrastructure...

Furthermore, the Rector also specifically emphasized the key tasks of the entire university in each aspect of its activities during the 2010-2011 academic year. Specifically: Strengthening the training and development of staff, especially those implementing internationally-standardized training programs; improving the capacity of lecturers, administrative staff, and managers in a standardized manner, evaluating the effectiveness of assigned tasks. Focusing on effectively implementing existing internationally-standardized training programs; developing 1 to 2 additional internationally-standardized majors/specializations. Completing the development and submission to the Vietnam National University, Hanoi of proposals to open 1 to 2 new majors/specializations under the standard system. Diversifying training types and programs, focusing on innovation in teaching, learning, and assessment methods; innovating the organization and management of training towards a more centralized approach; and developing and innovating student management in line with the credit-based training system. Continue to develop and improve the quality of international joint training programs, prioritizing cooperation with high-ranking universities, and rapidly enhancing the quality of training and the reputation of the university. Complete existing research topics and projects on time and with high quality, while continuing to build and implement large-scale, interdisciplinary science and technology tasks. Strive to develop and implement at least two new state-level research topics and projects in the 2010-2011 academic year. Innovate university governance, seriously and effectively implement the training and work tasks of the university on schedule. Diversify solutions and promote training and scientific activities to increase revenue. Attending and speaking at the opening ceremony, Professor Vu Minh Giang – Vice Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi – highly appreciated the achievements the university has attained. At the same time, it affirms the importance and role of social sciences and humanities in the development of the country. The contributions of the faculty and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities throughout the country's development have been recognized by the Party and the State. The university has contributed to training many generations of students who have held and are currently holding key roles in the state's management system. Continuing that tradition, the university needs to continue to promote its role and mission, deserving to be one of the leading training institutions in the country, providing a high-quality workforce.

On behalf of the students of the University, in her speech at the opening ceremony, student Nguyen Hoang Phuong - one of the students with outstanding academic and scientific research achievements - pledged to strive in her studies, actively participate in scientific research, and cultivate good character to continue affirming the position of a high-quality university, training graduates who meet the needs of society. On the occasion of the opening of the new academic year 2010-2011, the University also organized the awarding of certificates of merit and prizes to 3 valedictorians in the recent university entrance exam, 54 students from various cohorts with excellent and good academic results, 48 students who are Youth Union/Student Association officials with good work achievements, and 45 students who overcame difficulties to excel in their studies. The 2010-2011 academic year was also marked by many major celebrations: the University of Social Sciences and Humanities celebrated its 65th anniversary, and the whole country commemorated the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi.
