On the morning of September 6, 2010, nearly 500 new students participated in the first phase of the "Student Civic Education Week" for the 2010-2011 academic year. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Kim Son – Vice Rector – gave a lecture introducing the students to the history, organizational structure, and other aspects of the university.The content of the subsequent political orientation sessions will include: guiding and disseminating information to students on communication and behavior culture in universities, training regulations, student affairs regulations; regulations on discipline; introduction to the youth union and student association; dissemination of information on domestic and international security and political situations; and information on crime prevention and combating other social evils.

In addition, students from the K55 cohort in several departments such as History Education, Sino-Vietnamese Studies, Anthropology, Library and Information Science, and Tourism were also given a tour of the school's Traditional Room today. On the same day, students from the K52, K53, and K54 cohorts also held their first political orientation session of the year during class time.
