At that time, the Faculty of Literature was one of the leading institutions for training human resources in social sciences and humanities in our country. To date, the Faculty of Literature, now the Faculty of Literature and the Faculty of Linguistics, has trained tens of thousands of undergraduates, thousands of postgraduate students, and hundreds of doctoral graduates.

The Faculty of Literature is the cradle for training and nurturing many renowned writers and poets. Graduates of the Faculty of Literature have spread throughout the country, holding diverse positions: teachers, writers, journalists, editors, social, cultural, and artistic activists. Many hold extremely important leadership positions in the state apparatus, such as General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, a former student of the 8th graduating class. Scientific research has also become a regular activity, effectively serving the preparation of lectures and textbooks, improving the quality of education; at the same time, contributing to solving practical social problems, harmoniously combining basic science with applied science, and achieving significant achievements. Many faculty members are pioneers or leading researchers in their fields.

Regarding international relations, the Faculty of Literature and the Faculty of Linguistics have continuously expanded their activities from the regional level to the global level, creating favorable conditions for training staff, modernizing programs, and improving research methods. Faculty members have conducted research and taught at numerous universities around the world. With outstanding achievements in these fields, the Faculty of Literature was awarded the Third-Class Labor Medal in 1995 and the Second-Class Labor Medal in 2001; the Faculty of Linguistics was awarded the Third-Class Labor Medal in 2001 and the Second-Class Labor Medal in 2006.

Speaking at the anniversary ceremony, Professor Nguyen Van Khanh extended his congratulations to the two faculties and expressed his confidence that the field of Literature in general, and the Faculty of Literature and the Faculty of Linguistics in particular, will continue to grow and develop. Also at the ceremony, Professor Nguyen Kim Dinh – a former student of the first cohort and former Dean of the Faculty of Literature – and Professor Dinh Van Duc – former Dean of the Faculty of Linguistics – shared with faculty and students of the two faculties their memories and pride in studying and teaching at the Faculty of Literature.
