Attending the meeting, on behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, there was the presence of Assoc. On the side of Yunnan Normal University, China, there was the participation of Prof. Wang Xiu Cheng - Director of the Institute of Chinese Languages, Ms. Luo Qin - Deputy Head of the Department of Vietnamese Language.

At the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU shared that after the visit and work of the VNU-USSH delegation to Yunnan Normal University in June 2023, many cooperation activities between the two universities have been continued after a period of interruption due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities had many cooperation programs in training and research in the field of social sciences and humanities with Yunnan Normal University in particular and many universities in Yunnan, China in general. The visit and work of Professor Wang Xiu Cheng at VNU-USSH demonstrated the goodwill of Yunnan Normal University in deepening the cooperative relationship between the two universities.

President Wang Xiu Cheng shared the honor of Yunnan Normal University to have a good cooperative relationship with VNU-USSH in the past time. The reputation of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU in training and research in the field of social sciences and humanities has spread to many universities in China. Therefore, VNU-USSH is the destination of many international students, including Chinese students. Yunnan Normal University has sent many student delegations to study at VNU-USSH in international student exchange programs.
During this working visit, representatives of Yunnan Normal University hope to cooperate with VNU-USSH in exchanging prestigious research results of scientists from the two schools, together promoting international publication activities. In addition, Yunnan Normal University connects the credit exchange of undergraduate training programs, student and lecturer exchanges in the training programs of the two sides.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed and found many similarities in developing new directions of cooperation, such as promoting training exchanges, research in the field of philosophy, research issues on highland economics, cross-border ethnic studies, agriculture, etc. The two sides will also organize scientific seminars that not only attract the participation of scientists from the two units but also serve as prestigious scientific forums for many scientists from other prestigious universities.
Previously, in mid-August 2023, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU welcomed Prof. Duong Kien - Deputy Director of the Institute of Chinese Languages - Yunnan Normal University to visit and work. At the meeting, representatives of the two units discussed and reached consensus on enhancing cooperation, establishing research groups, and international co-publishing. In particular, during the meeting, Prof. Duong Kien and Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan made initial proposals for cooperation in teaching Chinese - Vietnamese, coordinating the organization of Chinese - Vietnamese translation certification exams at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU and at Yunnan Normal University, creating conditions for language exchange, confirming Chinese - Vietnamese language proficiency with certificates for candidates in need.
International integration is a strong trend of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, especially during the post-Covid-19 recovery period. Chinese universities and research institutes are important partners of the school in training and scientific research, student and lecturer exchange cooperation, international publishing and organizing conferences. In particular, Chinese students and trainees studying at VNU-USSH at different levels from bachelor's to master's and doctoral degrees have been given the best conditions for studying, medical care and cultural exchange in Vietnam.
Yunnan Normal University is located in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province, China, and consists of 24 colleges, 2 independent colleges, 28 affiliated schools, and jointly run primary, secondary, and kindergarten schools. The university has over 32,000 full-time students in doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate programs, and over 16,000 students in continuing adult education.
The school currently has more than 2,400 faculty members and 887 people with senior titles.
The university has 11 undergraduate majors such as literature, history, philosophy, law, teaching, management, science, engineering, economics, art and agriculture, forming a university with multidisciplinary development. According to the 2016 major evaluation results of the Ministry of Education of China, the university has 15 majors ranked in the top 70% of colleges and universities in the country, including the top 20% in geography and the top 40% in pedagogy.
