At the opening ceremony of the 2023-2024 academic year, the university was honored to welcome Professor Dr. Phung Huu Phu, Chairman of the Science and Training Council, former Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, former Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, and the first Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh, former Secretary of the Party Committee and former Rector of the University; and Associate Professor Dr. Lam Ba Nam, Chairman of the Association of Retired Teachers and former Vice Rector of the University.

The opening ceremony was attended by Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector, along with teachers from the school's Board of Directors, teachers from the Party Committee, the Executive Committee of the Trade Union, the Secretary of the Youth Union, the President of the Student Association, the President of the Veterans Association, the Association of Retired Teachers, leaders, staff, and lecturers from functional departments, Institutes/Faculties/Departments/Centers of the school, as well as representatives of students and pupils from the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities.
In particular, the ceremony welcomed 2,018 new students of the QH-2023-X cohort - the new faces of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi.
The opening ceremony of the 2023-2024 school year welcomed many distinguished guests who came to attend and share in the joy.
Change driven by creativity and innovation for the development of the school.In his opening remarks at the Commencement Ceremony, Rector Hoang Anh Tuan shared that just one month after 1,600 new graduates received their diplomas and graduated, the university joyfully welcomed 2,018 new students of the 68th cohort. This is the first year that the enrollment target for regular undergraduate programs has reached 2,000 students per year; and the total number of students at all levels (bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and international exchange programs) at VNU-USSH has reached 10,000. This is an impressive number in the history of the university's development.

Rector Hoang Anh Tuan shared with the faculty about facing a volatile and rapidly changing world; about a higher education system both domestically and internationally that is also changing daily. This change creates new opportunities and strengths for social sciences and humanities, but also poses enormous, even harsh, challenges. If each higher education institution does not adapt and change to survive, let alone thrive.
Therefore, the Principal appealed:
All faculty, staff, and employees of the University should strongly and consistently adapt in a creative and innovative direction, from teaching activities to administrative work, in order to bring the best results for students and for ourselves!

If you don't learn, you won't keep up, and the job will leave you behind."Professor Hoang Anh Tuan reminded the new students about the importance of lifelong learning and the inevitable trend of a learning society. The university's president also shared the outstanding advantages of the social sciences and humanities in the context of Society 4.0, highlighting its flexibility in developing interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary training.

Many good news came to the teachers and students of VNU-USSH during the Opening Ceremony.
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan shared his joy with all distinguished guests and faculty members of the university as they embarked on a new academic year filled with happiness over the achievements of the past year. These included stability and a strong sense of unity; a comprehensively streamlined organizational structure; continued development of the faculty; and enrollment targets for all programs met or exceeded, with particularly significant expansion in international student recruitment.
The majority of undergraduate training programs have undergone quality accreditation to align with new development strategies; postgraduate programs continue to be adjusted in a way that is both integrated and innovative to adapt to human resource needs and scientific development trends both domestically and internationally.
Key scientific tasks continue to be implemented and heavily invested in; international cooperation is broad and substantive, and partnerships to increase scholarships and academic support for students continue to grow.
The school's revenue is growing well, and the average income of its staff continues to increase. The school's legal system harmonizes high principles with humanistic values and a democratic spirit.
Facilities for teaching, learning, and research have been significantly improved, student self-study spaces have increased more than fourfold, and staff self-research spaces will soon be put into use…
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is one of the leading universities in self-assessment and quality assurance. At the opening ceremony, the university received good news as five more academic programs received accreditation certificates, including Anthropology, which received the ASEAN University Network (AUN) Quality Education Certification. Four undergraduate programs received accreditation certificates: Philosophy, Linguistics, Literature, and Oriental Studies.
Dr. Nghiem Xuan Huy - Director of the Institute for Educational Quality Assurance, VNU Hanoi, presented the AUN Educational Quality Certificate to the Anthropology program of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Phung, Director of Thang Long Quality Assurance Center, presented the Certificate of Accreditation for undergraduate programs to four majors at VNU-USSH.
Throughout its development, the University has always received material and spiritual support and encouragement from various organizations and individuals. Many sponsors and scholarship providers have become traditional partners, always accompanying the University's activities, such as: the Dao Minh Quang Scholarship and Award Fund, SHB Scholarship, AEON Scholarship Fund, DANKO Scholarship Fund, Shinhan Scholarship, etc. At the Opening Ceremony, the University continued to receive valuable support from many organizations and businesses to provide VNU - USSH students with valuable scholarships.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Trinh - Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of DANKO Group, representing the DANKO Group Scholarship Fund, presented scholarships worth 55 million VND to VNU-USSH students.
New students of cohort K68 – proud to contribute to enriching the humanities culture of Hanoi.A new journey has begun for the freshmen of cohort K68, as well as for nearly 10,000 students, at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. At the opening ceremony, the school honored 12 top-scoring students in the 2023 university entrance exam and 266 students with outstanding academic and personal achievements.

Immediately following the Opening Ceremony, students participated in welcoming activities for new students, such as a camp themed "Humanities Club Day," the Humanities Sports Festival, and especially the "Taking Flight" Gala Night with the participation of many VNU-USSH students. The youthful and creative colors of Hanoi's humanities on the stage of the opening ceremony brought a fresh and vibrant atmosphere, painting a picture of VNU-USSH youth full of dreams and aspirations.
