Among the guests were Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu – the first Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and currently the Chairman of the University's Scientific and Training Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lam Ba Nam – Chairman of the Alumni Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; representatives from the leadership of Song Da Urban and Industrial Investment Joint Stock Company, Atlantic Group, BIDV Bank; the Fulbright University admissions department and representatives of the school's parent-teacher association.
Representing the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong – Vice Rector of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu – Principal of the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities, along with teachers and all students.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Dieu Thi Lan Phuong – Vice Principal of the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities – read the letter from the President of Vietnam on the occasion of the opening of the 2023-2024 school year.
At the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu - Principal of the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities - delivered a welcoming speech for the new academic year, while also emphasizing, commending, and rewarding individuals and groups with outstanding achievements and awards in national and international competitions. Most recently, 13 students from the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities participated in a cultural exchange and academic exchange program at National Junior College (NJC – Singapore), and successfully surpassed 33 research groups from 14 schools to win First and Third Prizes for outstanding research. Many students from the High School for Gifted Students have also won prestigious scholarships from foreign universities. Furthermore, many students have successfully passed rigorous selection rounds and become students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as well as other prestigious universities nationwide. This serves as a foundation for the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities to continue innovating and developing, constantly improving the quality of education, and living up to its reputation as a leading training and research institution in Vietnam in social sciences and humanities.

In the joyful atmosphere leading up to the new school year, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong – Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, extended her congratulations and acknowledged the achievements and efforts of the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities during the past school year. Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong shared: Social sciences and humanities are sciences that develop human beings, society, and culture. Social sciences and humanities contribute to building a new value system for Vietnamese people, both promoting national traditions and cultural essence, and adapting to the new era of the industrial revolution, international integration, and rapid socio-economic development. Training at the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities is based on character, emotions, and aesthetics, with human development as the key focus. The school has defined a comprehensive training strategy, with the central goal of strengthening teaching methods, cultivating ethics, character, and human qualities, and training talented individuals with full knowledge, skills, dreams, passions, and ambitions. At this school, students not only receive comprehensive and in-depth training, acquiring a liberal education mindset, but also benefit from the specific training regulations of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
Students from the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities not only receive priority admission and direct entry into undergraduate programs at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, but starting from the second semester of 11th grade, they accumulate some university-level course credits in advance. Upon admission to undergraduate programs at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, they are exempted from some specialized advanced courses they had already taken in high school. This is a crucial policy of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, designed to shorten the time students spend in university studies and to further cultivate and nurture talented young individuals in the fields of social sciences and humanities.
