Innovation - New challenges from startup stories

Many people have probably heard of “Startup”, but the term “creative startup” is still very new, especially for students who are still in school. Understanding the need to learn about “creative startup” of students, the leaders of the Faculty of Management Science organized a Talkshow with the theme “Creative Startup Ecosystem” on the 8th floor of Building E on the evening of November 25.

Attending the talk show were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Party Secretary, Vice Principal of the school; five speakers including: Mr. Pham Hong Quat - Director of the Department of Market Development and Science and Technology Enterprises, Ministry of Science and Technology; Mr. Pham Dung Nam - Expert on innovative startups under the Ministry of Science and Technology; Mr. Tran Viet Duc - General Partner - IDG Ventures Vietnam; Mr. Nguyen Tien Trung - Senior Advisor of the VCCI National Startup Program, IPP Innovation Consultant; Mr. Nguyen Trung Dung - General Director of BK - HOLDINGS CO.LTD, Hanoi University of Science and Technology. In addition, the talk show also had the participation of leaders of the Faculty of Management Science.

At the beginning of the program, in his speech, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim welcomed the Executive Committee of the Faculty of Management Science Youth Union for paying attention to the students' need to learn about startups when, together with the School Youth Union and specialized agencies, organizing a practical and useful talk show.

He also expressed his expectation for a change in the perception of startups among students at the school after the event ended. Through that, teachers and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will together create and develop a truly innovative startup ecosystem within the school, making the school an important component in the national and international innovative startup ecosystem.

In the intimate and friendly atmosphere of the talk, the guest speakers took turns sharing their experiences and understanding of the “creative startup ecosystem”. Many questions were raised by the Organizing Committee and students, expressing the common concerns of many people such as: “What do students need to prepare to be able to start a creative business?”, “What is the role of the University in the creative startup ecosystem?”, “What is the appropriate amount of capital when starting a business?” or “How to protect your idea?”, etc.

The stories about the speakers’ entrepreneurial journeys were gradually revealed through interesting and practical answers. New entrepreneurial ideas were also presented by the students, and attractive opportunities from investors were also suggested by the guests to help the students feel more confident with their ideas.In particular, this talk show is just the first step for the next series of activities called "Building a creative startup ecosystem in the University, implemented by the Faculty's Board of Directors.".

It can be said that the talk show has really touched the concerns of many students when it not only revolved around the story of startups but also opened up a new concept of "creative startups"; from there, new startup ideas were born, creating a premise for their own development in the future.
