At the meeting, Mr. Robbie Taylor and representatives of Csaga organization hoped that the University would agree to cooperate to organize a series of activities on gender equality at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, expected to start from December 7, 2016.
As planned, the event series includes 3 main activities:
- Press conference and project introduction at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities with the participation of students and representatives of press agencies
- Organize a media competition on gender issues (no language limit) for journalists and the general public
- Organize a workshop to announce the best works of the media competition and invite experts from the United Nations and Vietnam to talk to students about some key issues and promote awareness of gender equality. The expected time for this activity is around January 2017.
Students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities can participate in all of the above activities (Students who participate in all of the above activities will receive certificates and awards from the organizing committee).
On behalf of the school's leadership, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh agreed with the cooperation proposals of the New Zealand Deputy Ambassador and the representative of Csaga organization.
Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh directed and assigned MSc. Luong Ngoc Vinh, Deputy Head of the Department of Cooperation and Development, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, to be the focal point in charge of connecting information between the University, Csaga organization and the New Zealand Embassy.
The project “Cooperation for gender equality in journalism” aims to raise awareness of gender equality through journalism and train journalists with gender sensitivity (Because journalists are the ones who convey messages about gender equality widely to the public).
All students who are interested in gender equality issues can register to attend. The detailed information of the project after being discussed and agreed upon by the relevant parties will be informed on many mass media.
Center for Research and Applied Sciences on Gender - Family - Women and Adolescents Csaga is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established to promote the implementation of rights for women and children affected by discrimination and violence in Vietnam using innovative methods.
Last Friday, Csaga and the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, University of Social Sciences and Humanities also organized a seminar on "Prevention of sexual violence against women and girls". The purpose was to increase students' understanding of the topic of sexual violence against women and girls; increase gender sensitivity in communicating about the topic of sexual violence and call for students' communication initiatives in communicating about the topic of sexual violence.
