During the meeting, Mr. Robbie Taylor and representatives from the Csaga organization expressed their desire for the University to agree to cooperate in organizing a series of activities on gender equality at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, scheduled to begin on December 7, 2016.

The series of events is expected to include three main areas of activity:

- Press conference and project presentation at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, with the participation of students and representatives from media outlets.

- Organize a media competition on gender issues (no language restrictions) for journalists and the general public.

- Organize a workshop to announce the best entries from the media competition and invite experts from the United Nations and Vietnam to speak to students about key issues and promote awareness of gender equality. This activity is tentatively scheduled for around January 2017.

Students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities can participate in all of the above activities (Students who participate in all of the above activities will receive certificates and awards from the organizers).

On behalf of the university leadership, Professor Pham Quang Minh agreed with the cooperation proposals from the Deputy Ambassador of New Zealand and the representative of the Csaga organization.

Professor Pham Quang Minh directed and assigned Ms. Luong Ngoc Vinh, Deputy Head of the Cooperation and Development Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, as the focal point responsible for connecting information between the University, the Csaga organization, and the New Zealand Embassy.

The project "Cooperation for Gender Equality in Journalism" aims to use journalism to raise awareness of gender equality and train gender-sensitive journalists (because journalists are the ones who convey messages about gender equality to the public in a comprehensive way).

All students interested in gender equality issues are welcome to register. Detailed information about the project, after being discussed and agreed upon by all stakeholders, will be disseminated through various mass media channels.

The Center for Research and Application of Science on Gender, Family, Women and Adolescents (Csaga) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established to promote the realization of rights for women and children affected by discrimination and violence in Vietnam through innovative methods.

Last Friday, the Csaga Organization and the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, also organized a seminar on "Preventing Sexual Violence Against Women and Girls". The aim was to enhance students' understanding of the topic of sexual violence against women and girls; increase gender sensitivity in communicating about sexual violence; and encourage student communication initiatives on this issue.
