At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of University of Social Sciences and Humanities) said that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a leading university in training and research in the field of social sciences and humanities. The University currently has 16 faculties, with 12 centers and research institutes. In 1995, the University established the Department of Japanese Studies under the Faculty of Oriental Studies and conducted training from bachelor to doctoral levels in majors of Japanese studies. Among the University's partners, the President affirmed that Japan is always an important partner in the strategy of developing international cooperation.
In response, on behalf of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Mr. Ol Toshiaki expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and hoped that JICA and the University would have future cooperation. First of all, within the framework of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer (JOCV) Program within the Vietnam-Japan Development Cooperation Program through JICA, the Faculty of Oriental Studies (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) will receive Professor Naito Machiko to teach Japanese voluntarily at the University from October 4, 2016 to October 3, 2018.
Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh pledged that the University will create the best conditions for Prof. Naito Machiko to do well in teaching and research here. The President said that this is a good sign of the cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and JICA in particular, as well as the Vietnam-Japan relationship in general.

JICA originated from the "International Cooperation Agency" established in 1974. As one of the ODA implementing agencies of the Japanese Government, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is responsible for implementing technical cooperation. With the aim of helping developing countries achieve self-reliant and sustainable socio-economic development, JICA has carried out cooperation activities mainly in training human resources to serve the cause of national construction. JICA's cooperation forms include loan cooperation, non-refundable aid, technical cooperation, volunteer dispatch, and emergency disaster relief.
