On October 17, 2016, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) received and worked with the delegation of the Democratic Progressive Party (Taiwan) led by Ms. Lee Li Feng (Legislative Member of the Committee on Culture and Education). Also attending were representatives of the Faculty of Sociology and the Office of Cooperation and Development.

At the reception, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) said that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a leading university in training and research in the field of social sciences and humanities. The university currently has 16 faculties and 12 research centers. In 1995, the university established the Department of Chinese Studies under the Faculty of Oriental Studies and conducted training from undergraduate to doctoral levels in Chinese studies. The university and Wanzao University of Foreign Studies established the Taiwan Education Center with the functions of Chinese language training programs, organizing Taiwan education exhibitions, promoting Taiwan study abroad consulting, organizing the Chinese proficiency test (TOCFL), conducting seminars, Vietnamese-Taiwanese language-cultural activities and acting as a focal point connecting universities and Taiwan, seeking scholarship programs of the Taiwanese government to create study abroad opportunities for Vietnamese students.

Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh expressed his wish to promote cooperation between Taiwanese universities and the USSH through a number of activities such as organizing international conferences, exchanging students and lecturers, teaching and training Vietnamese. The President hopes that the Democratic Progressive Party of Taiwan will be a bridge between the University and Taiwanese universities.

In response, Ms. Lee Li Feng thanked the school for its warm welcome and hoped to cooperate more deeply with the school in the above-mentioned related fields, especially teaching and training Vietnamese for Taiwanese people who intend to get married in Vietnam.

Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh received gifts and took souvenir photos with Ms. Lee Li Feng and the Democratic Progressive Party delegation.

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) of Taiwan was founded in 1986. The party has a long history of active support for human rights and Taiwan's indigenous identity, including advocacy for Taiwan independence. The DPP is a member of the Liberty International and a founding member of the Council for Asian Freedom and Democracy. The party is also Taiwan's representative in the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO), a non-governmental organization.
