Proposal to provide early support for training human resources in the journalism sector in the Mekong Delta.
Speaking at the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector of Can Tho University, shared his views on the great need for well-trained human resources in journalism in the Mekong Delta region.
Despite being one of the key areas receiving state investment for development, the majority of personnel working in the field of journalism in the region come from other sectors, not journalism.
Even in key leadership positions, the proportion of personnel with formal training in journalism remains very small. This reality presents a challenging issue regarding the standardization of personnel in this field here.

Associate Professor Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector of Can Tho University, discussed the need for training human resources in the journalism field during a working session.
As a key university in the region, providing high-quality human resources primarily for the Mekong Delta, Can Tho University currently lacks the necessary conditions to offer a Journalism program.
Given the significant societal demand, while training facilities are still unable to meet it, Can Tho University hopes that the leadership of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, will support and expedite the signing of cooperation agreements to promote the opening and training of journalism in the Mekong Delta region.
"Can Tho University hopes that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, will expedite the cooperation agreements so that it can begin enrolling students in the part-time Journalism program in the near future, by the end of 2016, and launch the Master's program in Applied Journalism in early April 2017.""Associate Professor Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector of Can Tho University, shared.
Can Tho University will fully meet and support the requirements regarding facilities and promote enrollment in this program when the course begins.

Overview of the working session
Speaking at the meeting, Professor Pham Quang Minh, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, instructed Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Vice Rector of the University, and representatives from relevant departments to quickly implement the procedures to launch the Journalism program at Can Tho University as soon as possible.
Many collaborative activities will also be implemented in the near future.
Besides Journalism, Professor Pham Quang Minh also shared information about other strong training programs at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
In the near future, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, will implement seven applied Master's programs in Journalism, Politics, Science and Technology Management, Religion, Social Work, Office Management, and Clinical Psychology. If there is demand, an additional 2-3 of these new programs can be implemented in collaboration with the Mekong Delta region.

Professor Pham Quang Minh, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, delivered a speech at the working session.
Furthermore, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has been organizing numerous courses on Religion. Over the past five years, the University has collaborated with the Institute for Global Engagement to organize many training courses on religion and the rule of law in various locations throughout the country. The University also maintains close relationships with Buddhist organizations, facilitating the organization of training and education. This is a rather specialized field and is likely to attract significant interest in the Mekong Delta region.
In response to the introduction from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Associate Professor Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector of Can Tho University, promised to act as a liaison to implement training courses on religion not only in the Mekong Delta region but also connecting with neighboring Cambodia. This will be an activity with high educational, social, and political significance.
Regarding scientific research cooperation, the leaders of the two universities also discussed and agreed that in the near future they will cooperate in organizing scientific research projects on the preservation and promotion of the culture of the Vietnamese delta.
Accordingly, each school has its own advantages in exploring and researching the culture of the two delta regions, factors related to agricultural transformation, culture, climate change, etc., thereby providing suggestions and advice to the Party and the State for appropriate policies.
