Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) introduces the University to Lord Puttnam.

Following this, Lord Puttnam delivered a presentation to a large audience of faculty, staff, and students of the University in the Auditorium on the 8th floor of Building E. Lord Puttnam's presentation focused on the theme of creativity in social life. According to him, creativity is the constant pursuit of improvement. Creative individuals always seek to enhance the objects, phenomena, and things around them until they are perfect. In a sense, creativity is synonymous with dissatisfaction with what has already been achieved; it also involves constantly generating new ideas to improve upon existing materials.

To further illustrate the concept of creativity, Lord Puttnam uses many vivid examples from several famous people. While working as an employee, Lord Puttnam himself always sought ways to improve his work and ideas until they reached perfection. He also cites Steve Jobs, who constantly urged his employees to improve services and products to perfection, putting the consumer first. Or in the film Chariots of Fire, which Lord Puttnam himself produced, two British athletes, Eric Liddell and Harold Abrahams, went through a grueling competition to win the 1924 Olympic Games. By continuously combining personal experience with the lessons learned from successful people, each individual can create their own perfection. That is creativity.

Following the presentation, Lord Puttnam received many comments and questions from students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities on issues such as the relationship between talent and creativity, the role of passion and love in creativity, different conceptions of creativity, and the role of creativity in society as a whole…

He served as CEO of Columbia Pictures from 1986 to 1988 and as Vice President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) from 1994 to 2004.
