At the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim briefly introduced the history of training and research of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as a prestigious and reliable social work training location in Vietnam. He proposed the implementation of cooperation between the University and the University of South Carolina in the field of social work.
Dr. Anna M. Scheyett accepted the proposal of Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim and said that the School of Social Work, University of South Carolina is very eager to cooperate with the School of Social Sciences and Humanities in the fields of social work such as dealing with population aging, elderly health care, urban population research, community development, especially for poor communities and religious communities, mental health counseling for those in need, especially veterans...

On that basis, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim suggested some directions of activities between the two schools such as cooperation in developing training programs, implementing joint research topics, organizing international scientific conferences, exchanging lecturers and publishing typical research on social work in Vietnam in journals of the University of South Carolina. The Department of Sociology and the Department of Psychology of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will be the focal points for cooperation with the University of South Carolina.
Also during the meeting, leaders of the two schools exchanged a memorandum of understanding to promote future cooperation activities.
The University of South Carolina was founded in 1805 in Columbia - the capital of South Carolina with about 40,889 students and is one of the oldest universities in the United States.
