Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh awarded scholarships to 10 students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies
Attending the closing ceremony were Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Quang Minh, Vice Principal of the school, Dr. Nguyen Tran Tien, Vice Head of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and Associate Professor, Dr. Le Dinh Chinh, Head of the Asian Community Learning Program.
The 21st century is considered the Asia-Pacific era. Recognizing the importance of learning about the Asian community for young people, the One Asia Foundation has sponsored the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU for many years to organize the course "Learning about the Asian Community". (2015 is the third year the course has been organized)
This is a special course for first-year students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies. The course is taught by leading domestic and foreign experts in all fields.
The purpose of the course is to help learners have a clearer vision of an Asian community. From there, learners will have the opportunity to learn and know the difficulties, advantages or opportunities, challenges of countries in the region, especially Vietnam in the process of reaching a new height in the regional and world forums in today's globalization era.
After the opening speech, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh, Vice Principal of the School, awarded scholarships to 10 students with the highest academic results of the course.

Prof. Dr. Mai Ngoc Chu Preserving Indigenous Asian Languages: Theory and Practice

The topic presents a panoramic picture of ethnic languages in Asia from the perspective of origin and structural type. Professor Mai Ngoc Chu analyzes in depth the situation of language extinction in Vietnam and the measures that have been and are being implemented to save languages at risk of extinction. |

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Dinh Chinh International Relations in Asia: History and Prospects

International relations are understood as the totality of economic, political, ideological, diplomatic, military, etc. relationships between countries and systems of countries, between classes, social and international organizations, mainly political, operating in the international arena. Throughout history, the world has gone through many ups and downs with unpredictable changes. However, in the complex circumstances of the current world situation, peace, cooperation and development are still a major trend; globalization is an objective trend that is increasingly attracting many countries to participate. Vietnam is also keeping pace with that general trend of the times. |

Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Tung Foreign policies of some "powers" in Asia

The main purpose of this lecture is to introduce students to the current international relations in the Asia Pacific. The foreign policy and international strategy of each country will be approached and analyzed in a multidimensional way, so that students can develop according to their own interests as well as continue to explore international relations in each region independently. |

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan “Regionalizing” national history: Vietnam's position in the East Asian maritime trade network in the pre-modern period

Historians of empires who study the sea or coastal areas tend to view their subjects from the mainland, assuming that the coastal and maritime areas should be treated as part of the continent. The sea is therefore often seen as peripheral and, in terms of function, subordinate to the political and cultural centres of the continent. Maritime historians use their own approach. Metaphorically speaking, maritime historians sit at the sea to view the coastal areas; they look from the sea to the shore, not from the shore to the sea. |

The lecture provides students with basic knowledge about religion and the history of religion, the characteristics of major religions in the world. In addition, and also the main content of the lecture, the lecture presents the religious foundations serving the orientation of building an Asian community. These foundations are based on the similarities of religions and the role of religion in social, political, economic, environmental and peaceful aspects. With those similarities, with those great roles, religions can certainly together contribute positively to the orientation of building a developed, stable, united and peaceful Asian community. |

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pham Van Quyet Asian Population and Vietnam: Issues of Changing Trends

Since around the 1950s, Asia's population entered a period of sudden increase, commonly known as the "population explosion". With the aim of pointing out Asian population issues in the context of world population and Vietnam's population progress in Asian population issues, the article wants to use population variables to clarify Vietnam's connection with the region in the current globalization process.

The story of the Hallyu wave (Korean cultural wave) attracts heated discussions among Vietnamese and Korean researchers, journalists and young people - Hallyu fans. This topic will give us a better understanding of the Korean Cultural Wave (Hallyu) that is spreading in East Asia, including Vietnam, affecting many fields. Students will have a comprehensive view to selectively receive this cultural wave to partly promote and preserve Vietnamese culture. |

Dr. Nguyen Tran Tien Building the ASEAN Community: A Regional Approach to Learning

The 21st century is considered the Asia-Pacific era. The strong rise of China, India and the United States are considered the leading important factors to talk about that. Along with that, the trend of multipolarization of the global security structure in general, and the Asia-Pacific region in particular, is shifting from orientation to shaping. In that regional and international context, on December 31, 2015, the ASEAN Community will officially come into being. This is an important milestone in the history of ASEAN. The topic of Building the ASEAN Community: Regional Studies Approach first helps students gain an overview of regional studies; theoretical issues related to regional studies such as; the Eastern Cultural region and some basic and prominent issues of countries and territories in the region such as economics and economic integration, culture and society ... through specialized and interdisciplinary studies in Regional Studies.

The Asian Community is a dynamic and diverse continent. The region has achieved significant economic growth in recent decades, but has also seen rising inequality and the persistence of poor quality jobs. The theme reviews an overview of labor market trends, the impact of the Asian Community on labor markets through simulation models and practical policy analysis, with the aim of providing evidence-based policy recommendations towards better employment for students after graduation. |

Nowadays, the cultural industry is becoming a key economic sector, even considered a "pillar" economy in many countries around the world. Therefore, studying the current status of the development process of the cultural industry in Japan and Korea, its economic, cultural and political significance and role, as well as understanding its international impacts is a matter of real theoretical and practical significance, not only helping to improve the understanding of two countries with important economic and cultural roles in the Asian region, but also providing important suggestions for learning from experiences in developing the cultural industry in Vietnam. |
