At the Conference, the leaders of the VNU Office in charge of communications reported on the status of communications in the first 6 months of the year and the orientation for communications in the last 6 months of 2020. Accordingly, the communications work of VNU in the first 6 months of the year took place in the context of the COVID-2019 pandemic outbreak with many unprecedented fluctuations. VNU has implemented activities such as propaganda on Covid-2019 pandemic prevention, innovation in teaching activities, enrollment work and especially propaganda for Party Congresses at all levels towards the 13th National Congress of Delegates. The communications work of VNU and its units has made many efforts to contribute to promoting the image and position of VNU in the context of the complicated developments of the Covid-19 pandemic. The communications staff of VNU is gradually growing, along with a large network of collaborators, contributing to widely promoting products and achievements in the fields of training, science and technology of VNU.
Professor and Principal Pham Quang Minh commented that communication activities need to avoid embellishment but should not be too modest and need to be exploited properly, "fast, correct, accurate, and good", highlighting the unique features of a university, which are training and research.
At the conference, Party Secretary and President of VNU Nguyen Kim Son highly appreciated the units in the whole VNU for increasing their understanding of the role of communication activities, emphasizing that communication must be considered an asset, an indispensable strength in management activities. In the coming time, in the flow of the main tasks that the whole VNU must do are enrollment, Party congresses at all levels towards the 4th VNU Party Congress, investment and construction implementation in Hoa Lac, etc. The President emphasized the two main keywords for communication activities: information and connection, in which all individuals in the collective need to know how to manage, exploit and strengthen information related to their units; At the same time, the communications department must grasp information of the unit and VNU to create connections and spread between units and VNU, between units with each other and between units with students and employers, towards building a 4.0 communications system.
Some specific tasks that the Director has proposed for the units in the coming time are to make good use of the wave of transition from traditional learning models to online learning to promptly respond to current events, avoiding unnecessary confusion; in addition, it is necessary to focus on communicating for the country's major scientific and technological activities that VNU scientists participate in or preside over, such as the National History, National History projects or the Northwest Program, etc.
