Master's Admissions: Only evaluate applications and interview candidates

From the 2022-2023 academic year, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi has just changed the method of entrance exams for master's degrees in 44 majors. Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong, Vice Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, said that this year the school will apply the method of admission to Master's degree by evaluating the application and interviewing candidates for all 44 master's training majors, replacing the traditional exam content, candidates must write essays on 2 basic and fundamental subjects, each subject lasting 180 minutes as before.

Ms. Huong said that through the interview process, the School will evaluate candidates more comprehensively in terms of knowledge, communication skills, thinking and learning motivation, in addition to the scores shown in the application. At the same time, the School also understands the candidates' thoughts, aspirations and study, research and development plans to be able to accompany and support students better in their future studies at the School, if the students meet the admission requirements. This is also the postgraduate admission method that has been applied by leading universities in the world for many years.

Ms. Huong also added that in 2022, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will issue many new policies to support learners and attract high-quality input sources. The school applies a special direct admission policy, according to which students with a good degree or higher in all majors that have been accredited according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training or prestigious accreditation organizations in the world (AUN-QA, ABET...) are all directly admitted to Master's degrees, such as Literature, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, History, Vietnamese Studies, International Studies and Archival Studies.

Students with a good degree or higher are not only admitted directly to the right major but are also selected for direct admission to suitable majors. For example, graduates with a good degree or higher in Journalism, Multimedia Communications, International Communications, Public Relations are all considered for direct admission to Journalism or Journalism and Communications Management.

Students majoring in Tourism, Tourism and Travel Services Management, Hotel Management, Restaurant and Food Service Management are considered for direct admission to the Tourism major.

Students majoring in Political Science, Party Building and State Administration, State Management, International Relations are considered for direct admission to Political Science, or Ho Chi Minh Studies...

Students with a degree of Excellent or higher in the correct or suitable field are eligible to apply for a doctorate.

In addition, there are 13 specific majors that are recruited according to a separate mechanism, according to which candidates from all majors: Journalism (applied orientation), Public Policy; Political Science (applied orientation); Social Work (applied orientation); Tourism Studies; Library Information Science (applied orientation); Theory and History of Cinema and Television; Science and Technology Management (research orientation); Science and Technology Management (applied orientation); Cultural Management; Office Administration (applied orientation); Journalism and Media Administration; Religious Studies (applied orientation).

However, candidates must meet the requirements for years of experience and the number of credits required for knowledge transfer, according to the specifics of each industry.
