That was the theme of the cultural exchange program to celebrate Vietnamese Women's Day October 20, organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in collaboration with HASTEC Company and Hanoi Radio and Television on October 18, 2012.Attending the exchange night were Ms. Ngo Thi Minh - Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children; Mr. Pham Tat Thang - Standing Member of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Education; Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long - Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of the Hanoi Party Committee; Ms. Le Thi Phuong Thao - Vice President of the Vietnam Veterans Association; Mr. Vo Van Can - Vice President of the Vietnam Veterans Association. On the side of VNU, there were Prof. Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan - Director of VNU; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc - Vice Director of VNU; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU. In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh mentioned the fighting and sacrificing examples of many female Youth Volunteers who have become legends in the revolutionary history of the nation, such as: ten female Youth Volunteers at Dong Loc Intersection (Ha Tinh), 13 girls at Truong Bon (Nghe An), girls at Hang Tam Co (Quang Binh), at Goi Station (Nam Dinh), at Do Len, Ham Rong Bridge (Thanh Hoa)... During the two resistance wars against foreign invaders, especially the resistance war against the US to save the country, the Youth Volunteers sacrificed their strength, youth and even their blood to ensure the smooth flow of strategic routes to bring troops, weapons and food to the battlefields of the South in time. After the reunification of the country, the Youth Volunteers with the spirit of "going anywhere, doing anything the country needs" continued to write new pages of history on the labor and production front, with shock campaigns to develop the economy, society, culture, education... "You are shining symbols, the pride not only of generations of Vietnamese youth but also of our nation in the cause of building and protecting the Organization, fighting for national unification". The Principal also affirmed that the performance and exchange with former Youth Volunteers is an activity of profound human significance to pay tribute to the contributions and sacrifices of generations of Youth Volunteers, thereby arousing national pride and the ideal of dedication to the country and the community of the young generation.

During the cultural night, the audience listened to many famous songs that had become “unforgettable songs” in the Vietnamese revolutionary music scene, performed by singers in the Hanoi City Youth Volunteers’ Cultural Team. These were “Happy to open the road” (Do Nhuan), “Hello, Lam Hong girl” (Anh Duong), “Country” (Pham Minh Tuan), “La River girl” (Doan Nho), “The girl who opened the road” (Xuan Giao), “Come back here with the train track” (Luu Cau), “Heroic Vietnamese mother” (An Thuyen)… The songs that came from the soul and heart of the former Youth Volunteers who had gone through the war created intense emotions and revived the heroic atmosphere of the period when the whole nation heroically rose up in the midst of fire and smoke. In that common spirit, the most beautiful and vivid images appear are the images of young female volunteers, with an optimistic spirit, loving life, loving work, ready to sacrifice themselves in bombs and bullets to open the way, ensuring the smoothness on fierce routes; or the images of heroic Vietnamese mothers who have worked hard all their lives, wiping away tears, suppressing their own feelings to send their children to the front...

The highlight of the program was the exchange with the guests: Ms. Ngo Thi Minh - Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc - Vice President of VNU; Mr. Le Trung Son - Chairman of the Association of Former Youth Volunteers of Thanh Hoa Province, Mr. Le Trong Thang - Director of HASTEC. In addition, a meaningful message was also sent to the younger generation: let's appreciate and continue the tradition of the previous generation; let's promote youth, dynamism, and creativity to build the country, continue to write a new history for Vietnamese youth today.
