On October 19, 2012, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a conference to summarize the trade union's work for the 2011-2012 academic year and to disseminate the Law on Higher Education.In the year-end summary report, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Xuan Khang – Chairman of the University's Trade Union – affirmed: During the past academic year, the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities successfully fulfilled its functions and duties as a grassroots trade union, making a significant contribution to the successful achievement of the University's academic year objectives. The Trade Union's activities closely followed major programs: protecting the legitimate rights and interests of teachers and employees, caring for their lives, building harmonious labor relations, creating motivation to improve the quality of education and training; enhancing the professional ethics, expertise, and skills of union members; actively participating in emulation movements and social campaigns, effectively carrying out the political tasks of the sector; innovating the organization, strengthening inspection work, improving the quality of the staff; and expanding external relations activities. In the 2011-2012 academic year, the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was ranked as an outstandingly strong trade union by the Vietnam National University, Hanoi Trade Union and was awarded the Flag of Excellence for Outstanding Trade Union Branch by the Vietnam Education Trade Union. The University had 3 collectives and 3 individuals awarded certificates of merit by the Education Trade Union, 5 collectives and 30 individuals awarded certificates of merit by the Vietnam National University, Hanoi Trade Union, 6 collectives and 54 individuals awarded certificates of merit by the University Trade Union, and 7 individuals awarded the "For the Cause of Trade Unions" commemorative medal by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

On behalf of the Party Committee and the School's Board of Directors, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Rector - acknowledged and commended the achievements of the School's Trade Union. The Trade Union actively participated in carrying out many important tasks of the School, and had many activities to encourage and assist union members in improving their skills and participating effectively in their work. The Trade Union also cared for the lives of its members, fostering a spirit of solidarity and unity within the collective; participating in many meaningful social activities such as: caring for heroic mothers, helping children in difficult circumstances, visiting and encouraging wounded and sick soldiers... With these activities, the School's Trade Union has excellently fulfilled its nhiệm vụ, being a worthy representative organization of the workers. In the 2012-2013 academic year, the School's Trade Union will focus on the following activities: continuing to guide union members to effectively implement the Resolutions of the Party Congress at all levels, the campaigns of the Education Sector and the Vietnam Education Trade Union; To effectively carry out political and ideological work, propaganda, and dissemination of laws among all staff and employees; to coordinate with the government to effectively implement the four work programs for the development of the School in the 2012-2015 period; to effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests and take care of the lives of staff and employees; to promote cultural, artistic, and sports activities to improve the spiritual life of staff and employees; and to promote social work in the spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance…
