On October 17, 2012, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and AEON Group (Japan) officially signed a cooperation agreement and awarded the first 15 scholarships to the university's students.Attending the ceremony were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; Mr. Konishi Yukio - Chief Representative of AEONMALL Office; Mr. Motoo Tomomura - General Secretary of AEON 1% Club; and Mr. Yasuo Nishitoghe - Head of AEON Vietnam Region. According to the agreement, AEON will provide scholarships to students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, worth 290 USD per scholarship. Eligible students are third-year students in the following majors: Japanese Studies, Journalism and Communication, International Studies, Literature, History, Sociology, Psychology, Library and Information Science, and Tourism Studies. Starting from the 2013-2014 academic year, it is expected that 30 students will receive AEON scholarships each year. Students who have previously received this scholarship will also be given priority for internships and employment at AEON facilities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim expressed his gratitude to AEON Group for supporting students' studies and showing concern for the university's training programs. He also stated that, with a business philosophy that balances economic benefits with contributions to education and social welfare, AEON Group will achieve many successes and receive positive recognition and evaluation from society and the community. In the future, the university is ready to cooperate and share common interests with AEON Group through various collaborative activities between the two parties. Mr. Yasuo Nishitoghe, Head of AEON Vietnam, stated that the AEON 1% Club receives funding from 1% of the pre-tax profits of companies within the AEON group, which is then used to carry out various activities related to cultural exchange, international student exchange, environmental protection, local socio-cultural reconstruction, and talent development. Since 2012, AEON has awarded scholarships to students at universities in Hanoi, starting with scholarships for outstanding students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to encourage them in their studies and research. Following the signing ceremony, AEON awarded the first round of scholarships to 15 students with high academic achievements in the past academic year.
