125th AUN-QA Assessment at Programme Level started

Participating in the opening ceremony were Assoc. Prof. Dr Nantana Gajaseni (Acting Chairperson of AUN-QA Council), Assoc. Prof. Dr Tan Kay Chuan (lead assessor of the Bachelor's program in Psychology), Assoc. Prof. Dr Eric Wibisono (lead assessor of the Bachelor's program in Sociology) and other staff. From the USSH's side there were Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh (USSH's Rector), Assoc. Prof. Dr Hoang Anh Tuan (USSH's Vice Rector), Assoc. Prof. Dr Tran Thi Minh Hoa (USSH's Vice Rector), representatives of the two assessed faculties and other functional offices.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh briefly introduced about USSH, thereby emphasizing the importance of social sciences and humanities to the development of modern universities. The Rector also said, in the context of competition and international integration, USSH is trying to overcome challenges to increasingly validate its position. Therefore, quality accrediation is especially important for it helps identify and deal with the University's shortcomings in research and training affairs, improving its status and extending its international relations. The Rector gave thanks to AUN for having assisted USSH in this activity.

On behalf of the AUN-QA Council, Assoc. Prof. Dr Nantana Gajaseni highly appreciated USSH's interest in quality assurance. Like Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh, she said this activity has to done with both the heart and the mind so as to improve and strengthen training quality. In addition, AUN's assessment program is only part of a long process of quality assurance, in which AUN's role is to understand the University's missions and tasks and help achieve its desired goals. She hoped to receive open and enthusiastic cooperation from Faculty of Psychology and Faculty of Sociology in the next two days.

After the opening ceremony the delegation split into two groups to work with their corresponding units and individuals. The whole program will last until after November 8th.

This is the 5th time the AUN-QA Assessment at Programme Level has been held at USSH. Since 2014, 4 bachelor's programs of USSH have had their quality accredited: Linguistics (2014), Oriental Studies (2015), Philosophy (2016), and Literature (2017).
