Participating in the ceremony were Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh (USSH's Rector) and Assoc. Prof. Dr Hoang Anh Tuan (USSH's Vice Rector).
On behalf of the University, Assoc. Prof.Dr Bui Thanh Nam (Dean of Office for Academic Affairs) announced the decisions and documents recognizing doctoral candidates (DC) and master's candidates (MC) of the academic year 2018. This year, USSH has 46 DCs and 410 MCs, including 118 MCs of the First phase, 275 MCs of the Second phase, and 17 non-Vietnamese MCs.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Rector Hoang Anh Tuan sent his warmest remarks to the new DCs and MCs of this term. He said USSH currently has over 70 postgraduate programs with diverse majors and minors, ensuring that they correspond to domestic needs and international trends. In recent years, the University has adjusted its training processes, curriculum structures, and thesis/dissertation defence paperwork, so as to provide DCs and MCs with flexibility and convenience. Vice Rector also suggested the training units adhere to legitimate processes and uphold a spirit of commitment and innovation in postgraduate education.

At the end of the ceremony, new master's candidate Nguyen Xuan Linh (majoring International relations) expressed his thanks for the University's interest in arranging and organizing proper academic processes. He said USSH, VNU Hanoi is a leading and prestigious institution traditionally known for disseminating and creating knowledge and training high-quality human resources for social sciences and humanities. He also hoped the new DCs and MCs score high achievements in their study and research.

After the ceremony, the DCs and MCs were introduced about academic regulations and procedures for completing their admission.
