Mr. Richard R. C. Shih (Chief Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam) said that the program is a meaningful event that creates mutual learning among Vietnamese and Taiwainese youth
The program was organized by the Vietnam-Taiwan Research Institute (National Dong Hwa University, Taiwan) and the Center for Gender, Population, Environment and Social affairs (University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU).
Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) expressed her joy when USSH, VNU and Dong Hoa National University co-held the first event on environmental education between the two countries and hoped to see more cooperative activities in the future between the two universities
The program will take place in five days, from August 19-23th, 2019 at universities in Hanoi, the Center for Natural Resources and Environment Communication and Xuan Thuy National Park. The program aims to build Taiwan-Vietnam environmental education network, promote opportunities for cooperation in sustainable development education; provide a practical forum to help share initiatives and practice the environmental education exchange model.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, representatives of the organizing and supporting units welcomed and appreciated the significance of the Environmental Networking Program. Currently, in Vietnam and Taiwan, there are serious problems with both land, water and air environments, affecting the quality of life of both nations. The experiences and knowledge shared by the students will contribute to creating solutions to improve the environment of each country. At the same time, this event also promotes dynamic interactions and intercourses between Vietnamese and Taiwanese young students and youth in particular and bilateral relations between the two countries in general.
In the program, excellent students from three Taiwanese universities and three Vietnamese universities and members of non-governmental organizations discussed environmental education issues in two countries and provided creative solutions to improve environmental education as well as environmental protection in general. The main topics for discussion were climate change, recycling economy, natural conservation, cultural diversity, and participation in environmental protection.
