Conference on Vietnam – Japan relations to be held in 2015

On August 6th, Assoc.Prof.Dr Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Rector of USSH) welcomed and worked with Prof.Shiraishi Masaya (Waseda University, Japan) to discuss about a proposed international conference on Vietnam – Japan relations.

The conference will focus on Vietnam – Japan relations in the Second World War – documents and understanding, and will be held at the end of 2015. Its co – organizers are Waseda University, Tokyo University, Keio University, Hokkaido University, USSH (VNU) and Vietnam Academy of Sciences.

One of its main aims is to understand Vietnam – Japan relations in the Second World War, with an emphasis on the occupation of Vietnam by Japan and the changes it made to then Vietnam’s colonial society.

It is expected this conference will provide new documents, especially archived ones on Vietnam and Japan, and gather leading scholars, historians and archival researchers from Japan, Vietnam, France, the US, etc.
