Cooperation potentials between USSH and Chongqing University

On May 6th, 2014, Assoc.Prof.Dr Nguyen Van Kim(Vice Rector of USSH) had a work meeting with a delegation from Chongqing University (China) led by Prof. Zhao Qing Ping (President of the Institute for International Relations).

At the meeting, the two sides discussed cooperation potential in three areas: training, research and international cooperation.

Assoc.Prof.Dr Nguyen Van Kim said that USSH highly appreciates international cooperation as it plays an important role in its development. Until now, USSH has signed 193 memorandums of understanding with international universities. It annually holds over 30 scientific conferences. Each year, it sends 1/3 of total staff abroard for academic exchanges and receives nearly 400 international scholars. USSH has formed good relations with Chinese universities. It can be said various academic areas of Chongqing University are equivalent with those of USSH. Thus the two sides have great potential of forming permanent and official cooperation.

Prof. Zhao Qing Ping said that this visit to USSH is aimed at establishing and extending official cooperative relations. And he hoped for further cooperation between two universities through activities such as exchanging students and lecturers and organizing common research projects and seminars.

Chongqing University is a general institution established in 1929. It currently has 31 faculties in the areas of Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Built Environment, Information Science and Technology. Among them are 13 schools on social sciences and humanities such as School of Law, School of Public Affairs, School of Journalism and Communication, School of Film, and School of Foreign Literature. The University currently has 45.000 students and 5.800 staff members. The total number of foreign students in 2013 was 1.285 students, including 138 Vietnamese students.
