Scientific conference "The spirit of reincarnation of Vietnamese Buddhist women Past and Present"

On January 26, 2024, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Hanoi (VNU-USSH) successfully organized the scientific conference "The spirit of reincarnation of Vietnamese Buddhist Women Past and Present", and gained the attention of many experts, lecturers, and students from universities, research institutes, and organizations.

On the side of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, there was the participation of the Venerable. Dr. Thich Phuoc Dat - Member of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Standing Deputy Head of the Central Buddhist Education Committee, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Buddhist Research Institute, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in City. HCM.
On the side of agencies and organizations, there are leadership representatives of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Hanoi City Committee of the Fatherland Front, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, and the Academy of Government. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, emphasized that Vietnamese Buddhism with its spirit of reincarnation has been affirmed and proven throughout history. The reincarnation of Vietnamese Buddhism not only helps spread the good teachings of this religion widely in the community but also accompanies the struggle, protection, and construction of Vietnam in history as well as in the present. It is impossible not to mention the role and contribution of Buddhist women - one of the four groups who practice together and carry out Buddhist work in the house of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.
History has proven that Vietnamese Buddhist women have always played an important role, contributing significantly to the cause of national liberation and country-building. In peacetime, the contribution of Buddhist women is shown more clearly in many aspects, not only in imparting teachings but also in social activities with practical meaning that contribute to the development of the society.

As one of the leading training units in the field of social sciences and humanities, for many years, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU has conducted research and seminars associated with the issue of the role of Buddhism in general and the contribution and status of women to Buddhism. The scientific conference "The spirit of reincarnation of Vietnamese Buddhist women Past and Present " is a forum for exchange, aiming to clarify several theoretical and practical issues related to the contributions of Vietnamese Buddhist Women in history as well as today, to provide solutions and recommendations to promote the spiritual value of Vietnamese Buddhist Women in contemporary society.

Venerable Dr. Thich Phuoc Dat - Member of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha shared that the scientific conference " The spirit of reincarnation of Vietnamese Buddhist women Past and Present " is a tribute to the achievements and the efforts of women throughout the history of Vietnamese Buddhism. This has affirmed its role in the nation's history and needs to be encouraged and promoted in the current reform process.
Venerable Dr. Thich Phuoc Dat hoped that the scientific conference organized by the Department of Religious Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, Hanoi will open up new research directions and approaches with many new research projects, encouraging the positive contributions of Buddhist women in all fields, contributing to the longevity of Dharma, a prosperous country, and peaceful people.

Speaking to congratulate the conference, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, said that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities always emphasizes scientific research activities, each year about 30 to 40 seminars are organized, covers a wide range of topics within and across the humanities and social sciences. Among them, Religious Studies is one of the subjects with outstanding research results holding a vibrant scientific research spirit, and attracting the attention of the scientific community.

The organizing committee received more than 40 papers from scholars contributing important content in the study of the spirit of reincarnation of Vietnamese Buddhist women in the past and present with main topics such as: (1) Spirituality reincarnation of Vietnamese Buddhist Women in history; (2) The spirit of reincarnation of Vietnamese Buddhist Women in contemporary society; (3) Some solutions to promote the spirit of reincarnation of Vietnamese Buddhist Women in the current period.
It is expected that after the conference, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, Hanoi will publish a book with valuable research results.
