Journalism Writing Skills Class - Course 5

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities announces enrollment for a short-term certificate course in Journalism Writing Skills, commencing in February 2011.

1. Subject

Students who have graduated from or are currently studying at colleges/universities.

2. Objectives

By the end of the course, students will have acquired the basic knowledge and skills of journalism, specifically as follows: + The landscape of Vietnamese journalism and career opportunities in the field of print media; + Law and ethics of journalism; + Skills in identifying issues, gathering information, and evaluating journalistic information; + Interviewing skills as a professional operation of journalists, and interviewing as an independent genre of journalism; + Basic journalistic genres such as news, interviews, profile, feature articles, and investigative reports; + Article organization; + Introduction to newspaper layout.

3. Study time

8 weeks. 3 sessions per week. - Tuition fees: Students from outside the university: 2,200,000 VND; Students from the university (with student ID): 1,800,000 VND; Alumni of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (with diploma): 2,000,000 VND - A minimum of 70% of the tuition fee must be paid on the registration day. Tuition fees are non-refundable after the course begins.

4. Utilize students' practical work.

Suitable and high-quality practical projects from students will be published on the website of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and students will receive royalties according to current regulations.

5. Lecturer

Our instructors are highly qualified professionals, professionally trained in journalism and communication in advanced countries around the world, and experienced television, print, and online journalists currently working at central and Hanoi-based media organizations.

6. Graduation Certificate

The certificate is available in both Vietnamese and English, and is issued by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi).

7. Register for the course

- Registration location: + Center for Journalism and Communication Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, 3rd floor, Building H, 336 Nguyen Trai Street, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi. - Registration documents: + Registration form (obtain and fill out at the registration location) + Copy of student ID/university diploma/high school diploma + 2 photos 3 x 4 cm (taken within the last 3 months)
