Global politics and the dynamics of urbanization

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the Center for Global Politics and the Free University of Berlin are pleased to announce the plan to organize the Fall Course in Hanoi with the theme: “Global Politics and Urban Dynamics”.This is a cooperative activity within the framework of the “German Year in Vietnam” and is sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

1. Course content

With the theme “Global Politics and Urbanization Dynamics”, students will meet with leading political science professors from Germany and Vietnam, master’s students and researchers from related fields. The course will be an opportunity for students to acquire information and multidisciplinary approaches to Global Politics, Global Urban Areas, Vietnam’s Role in Regional Security, East Asia Economic Integration, EU Integration, EU Foreign Relations, Conflict Management Simulation Game, etc. In addition, participating in the course, students will also have the opportunity to visit exhibitions organized by the Goethe Institute, German film screenings during the German Film Festival in Vietnam and especially a field trip with teachers and students. Participants will be awarded a Certificate of Completion at the end of the course.

2. Study time and application deadline

• Study time: From November 1 to 13, 2010.

3. Requirements for candidates

Course participants must meet the following requirements:

• Have an understanding of and interest in global political issues
• Have a bachelor's degree (or equivalent certificates) relevant to the course (International Relations, Political Science, Economics...)
• Good English skills

• 01 CV/ resume
• Transcript of former academic achievements
• English certificate (or other equivalent documents)
• Note: The entire course tuition fee is sponsored by DAAD. Students outside Hanoi, if accepted, will be supported with travel expenses.
