Global politics and urbanization dynamics

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the Center for Global Politics, and Free University Berlin are pleased to announce the plan to organize a fall course in Hanoi with the theme: “Global Politics and Urban Dynamics”.This is a collaborative activity within the framework of the "Year of Germany in Vietnam" and is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

1. Course content

With the theme "Global Politics and the Dynamics of Urbanization," participants will meet with leading political science professors from Germany and Vietnam, as well as postgraduate students and researchers from related fields. The course will provide an opportunity to gain multidisciplinary insights and approaches to global politics, global urban areas, Vietnam's role in regional security, East Asian economic integration, EU integration, EU foreign relations, conflict management simulations, and more. In addition, participants will have the chance to visit exhibitions organized by the Goethe Institute, attend German film screenings during the German Film Festival in Vietnam, and participate in a field trip with faculty and fellow students. Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the course.

• Course duration: From November 1st to November 13th, 2010.

3. Requirements for candidates

Participants in the course must meet the following requirements:

• Having knowledge of and interest in global political issues.
• Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualifications) relevant to the course (fields such as International Relations, Political Science, Economics, etc.).
• Good English skills

• Note: The entire course fee is sponsored by DAAD. Students from outside Hanoi, if accepted, will receive travel expense support.
