The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is recruiting students for a short-term certificate course in Journalism Writing Skills, commencing in October 2010.
1. Subject
Students who have graduated from or are currently studying at colleges/universities.
2. Objectives
Basic skills for creating photographic works for articles. By the end of the course, students will have grasped the basic knowledge and skills of journalism, specifically as follows:
- The landscape of Vietnamese journalism and career opportunities in the field of print media.
- Law and Ethics in Journalism;
- Skills in identifying problems, gathering information, and evaluating journalistic information;
- Interviewing skills as a professional operation for journalists, and interviewing as an independent genre of journalism;
- Basic journalistic genres include news articles, interviews, biographical sketches, feature stories, and investigative reports.
- Organize the article;
- Introduction to newspaper layout.
3. Study time
8 weeks. 3 sessions per week.
4. Utilize students' practical work.
Suitable and high-quality practical projects will be published on the website of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and authors will receive royalties according to the university's current regulations.
5. Opening Ceremony
Classes are scheduled to begin on October 1, 2010.
6. Tuition fees
2,200,000 VND/student/course. Discounts are available for the following groups:
- For students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the fee is 1,800,000 VND per student per course.
- For alumni of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the fee is 2,000,000 VND per course.
A minimum of 70% of the tuition fee must be paid upon registration. Tuition fees are non-refundable after the course begins.
7. Register for the course
From September 1st, 2010 to September 25th, 2010 at the Center for Journalism and Communication (3rd floor, Building H, 336 Nguyen Trai Street, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi). Registration documents include:
- Registration form (obtain and fill out the form at the registration location)
- Copy of student ID/university diploma
- Two 3 x 4 cm photos (taken within the last 3 months)
