10. Summary of new results of the thesis:

The thesis not only contributes to systematizing and updating a number of theoretical issues related to prejudice but also designs a theoretical framework and a set of tools to measure prejudice against homosexuals in students.

In practice, through the survey, the thesis found that students showed high levels of prejudice against gay men but low levels of prejudice against lesbians; the level of prejudice in each component of stereotypes, emotional reactions and negative beliefs was different on each subscale measuring prejudice against lesbians and gay men. However, emotional reactions were the component in which students showed the highest level of prejudice compared to the other two components.

The study results also showed that prejudice against homosexuals was influenced by all factors surveyed; in which, media and traditional values ​​about gender roles had the strongest influence on prejudice against homosexuals in students.

11. Practical application:

The research results of the thesis are one of the reference sources for lecturers, students, organizations protecting and promoting the rights of the LGBT community in Vietnam as well as other civil organizations in researching and evaluating prejudice. This will help provide a scientific basis for promoting the issue of legalizing same-sex marriage in our country today.

12. Further research directions:

Implicit prejudices against homosexuals or the relationship between parents and homosexual adolescents in the context of Vietnamese culture will be a future research direction.

The thesis is not only systematized and provided updates on a number of the theoretical issues related to bias, but also designed the theoretical framework and a set of tools for measuring bias towards homosexual students.

Through practical investigations, it was found that the students expressed a high level of prejudice against gays but expressed a lower level of prejudice against lesbians; It was also found out the differences in the levels of bias in each of component models, emotional responses and negative beliefs in the measurement sub-scales. However, the emotional response was the highest level of bias in comparison with the other two elements.

The results also revealed that prejudice against homosexuality is influenced by all the factors being examined. In particular, media and traditional values ​​of gender roles had the strongest influence towards the bias against gay students.

The research results of this thesis were a source of references for lecturers, students, and organizations to protect and promote the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities in Vietnam as well as other civic organizations in the study and evaluation of prejudice. This will assist in providing a scientific basis for promoting the legitimization of same-sex marriage in our country today.

Research on behavioral implicit biases against homosexuals or the relationship between parents and their gay children in the context of Vietnam should be conducted.
