10. Summary of new results of the thesis:

The thesis is the first work that takes the grammatical metaphor of systemic functional grammar as the research object to examine this phenomenon in Vietnamese social science texts. The thesis has analyzed the specific manifestations of grammatical metaphor expressed in two genres: Ideological metaphor and interpersonal metaphor.

Ideological metaphors through phenomena: nominalization of verb phrases, nominalization of clauses, enclosed clauses... in Vietnamese social science texts.

Interpersonal metaphors in Vietnamese social science texts include modal metaphors and mood metaphors.

11. Practical application:

In practice, understanding how grammatical metaphors are used and how they function in Vietnamese scientific texts, along with understanding how to apply grammatical metaphors, will help language researchers and teachers better understand the nature and structure of scientific texts. On that basis, it is possible to build a subject that teaches effective methods of writing scientific texts, helping students, graduate students and researchers improve their ability to write scientific reports, theses and dissertations.

In addition, understanding the structure of grammatical metaphors can also help translators and interpreters perform translation work more easily, thanks to mastering the grammatical structures and ways of expressing the meaning of each type of text, helping to quickly, accurately and effectively transcode the language.

12. Further studies:

In the future, the thesis can continue to conduct more in-depth research on grammatical metaphors in some other genres of Vietnamese texts; study and conduct comparative research on the use of grammatical metaphors in Vietnamese and English; at the same time, on the basis of the thesis, revise and supplement to complete a textbook on how to create social science texts using the method of grammatical metaphors./.

10. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

The thesis is the first research on using the metaphors of the systemic functional grammar as the study subject to survey this phenomenon in the documents in social sciences in Vietnamese. The thesis has analyzed the specific features of grammatical metaphors which are manifested in two types: interpersonal metaphor and ideational metaphor.

The ideational metaphors are manifested through the phenomena: nominalization of verb phrases, nominalization of the clauses, etc., in the documents in social sciences in Vietnamese.

The interpersonal metaphor in social sciences in Vietnamese consists of mood metaphors and modality metaphors.

11. Practical applicability, if any:

Practically, understanding clearly the uses of grammatical metaphors and their effects in the documents in social sciences in Vietnamese together with the application of grammatical metaphors in social sciences in Vietnamese helps researchers and teachers of linguistics understand more clearly about the nature and structure of sicentific documents. On the basis of this thesis, it is possible to build up a subject to teach the methods of composing scientific documents effectively in order to help students, master students and PhD. candidates write their scientific reports, theses and dissertations.

In addition, understanding the structures of grammatical metaphors can also help translators and interpreters do their work more easily because understanding clearly grammatical structures and the meaning expressions in the documents of different types helps convert the language codes quickly, effectively and accurately.

12. Further research directions, if any:

In the future, it is possible to continue studying deeply the grammatical metaphors in other types of scientific documents in Vietnamese; finding about and doing research on the comparison between the uses of metaphors in English and the uses of metaphors in Vietnamese ; At the same time, on the basis of this thesis, it is possible to make a correction and supplement in order to complete a book of the methods of building scientific documents in the mode of grammatical metaphors.
