10. Summary of thesis results:
The thesis has clarified the factors affecting the adjustment of defense and security policies of ASEAN countries in the period from 2010 to 2020. In which, external factors play a fundamental decisive role, internal factors play a driving role in promoting the adjustment of defense and security policies of ASEAN countries. Among the external factors, the factor "World context" is the main factor, directly affecting and leading other factors.
Based on the influencing factors, the thesis has analyzed and clarified the process of adjusting the defense and security policies of ASEAN countries. In which, the main goal of this adjustment is to strengthen the protection of sovereignty, internal political security, enhance defense potential as well as balance competition between major countries in the region.
In addition, the thesis also assessed the effectiveness of the process of adjusting the defense and security policies of ASEAN countries. On the one hand, the adjustment has helped ASEAN improve its capacity to protect sovereignty, on the other hand, it has helped ASEAN gradually balance the power competition of countries in the region. In addition, the thesis also assessed the impact and made recommendations for adjusting the defense and security policies for Vietnam in the coming time.
